Congratulations to the Lady Bruins for this Class 6 Region A Semifinal game against Cosby last night. They defeated the Titans 5-1.

Amiya Wilson, Kaileigh Taylor, and Maddie Sessoms each had two hits. Haylee Bandura pitched a complete game and struck out 12.

This win guaranteed the Lady Bruins a berth in next week’s State tournament. We play next for the Region Championship tomorrow at Grassfield. 🏆 Game time is 6:00pm. Come out and show your support! 💙🥎💛

Congratulations to the Lady Bruins for their Class 6 Region A Quarterfinal win yesterday against Thomas Dale. The Bruins defeated the Knights 11-1. Amiya Wilson had two hits and three RBI’s.

Haylee Bandura threw a one-hitter and struck out nine to reach her 300th Varsity strikeout! Way to go, Haylee! We are so proud of you.

Big win, ladies! We host the Region Semifinal on Tuesday, June 2, against Cosby. Game time is 5:30pm. Come out and show your support! 💙🥎💛

Our last Senior Spotlight: #17 Marissa Bernheimer

Marissa has been a member of the Varsity team. Marissa has started at short stop for the last 3 seasons and she has played a huge role in our team’s success each year. She is attending University of North Carolina Wilmington to play softball and major in business and minor in exercise science.

Marissa’s favorite memory or highlight from her time in the WBHS softball program is from her sophomore year when she hit the go ahead grand slam against NSA.

Our second Senior Spotlight: #11 Maddie Sessoms

Maddie joined our WBHS softball program as a freshman and has spent the last two seasons on Varsity. She previously spent time in the outfield but has been steady at first base this season. She is attending Methodist University to play softball and major in Kinesiology and minor in Biology. She plans to become a Pediatric Physician Assistant.

Maddie’s favorite memory or highlight from her time in the WBHS softball program is from her junior year when we won the Regional Championship.

In honor of Thursday’s Senior Night, here is our first Senior Spotlight:

#8, Kaileigh Taylor 🥎

KT has been a member of the Varsity team since she was a freshman. She has been our starting catcher for the past three seasons where she has been instrumental to our team’s overall success. She is attending Virginia Wesleyan University, soon to be renamed Batten University, to play softball and major in Allied Health.

KT’s favorite memory or highlight from her time in the WBHS softball program is from her junior year when the team dogpiled after beating James Madison High School in the state semi-final game in 2025.
