Rehab 13 - Deer Park Fire Company Serving Those Who Serve

New members always needed! https://www.volunteermatch.org/search/opp2067782 During that time, a campaign for new members was undertaken.

Incorporated in August of 1948, The Deer Park Fire Company’s current mission is to provide the citizens and emergency workers of Cherry Hill Township and its surrounding mutual aid communities with a three-piece Rehab and canteen unit. The Rehab concept was originally presented to the membership in late 2003, and after careful research and development, an operating budget was drafted. The Board of

Trustees appointed a Station Captain, and he appointed a competent staff to move the plan forward. After visiting several other Rehab units in the tri-state area, the plan was finalized and presented to the Cherry Hill Fire Department and the members of the Deer Park Fire Company for acceptance and approval. Once approvals were obtained, three Rehab vehicles and all support equipment for the station were purchased an or installed. This successful recruiting drive produced a total of seven new members, and the total membership was now 35. Of these 35 members, 24 of them are active members that respond to emergency incidents, as well as the non-emergency calls for service that we handle. Since those early days, we have been called to numerous incidents in Camden, Burlington, Gloucester, and Atlantic counties. Every time we respond to an incident, we pay close attention to how and where we can make improvements to the service we provide. Our goal is to provide high quality professional service for every emergency scene we are dispatched to. If you are in the area of our station, stop by and see us. We would be happy to show you around. We take great pride in “Serving Those Who Serve.”

*Long post incoming*

The Camden Fire Department family is still trying to process the loss of our brother, Captain Howard Bennett, in the Line of Duty. The weight of it is real. But even in the middle of our grief, we were reminded of something powerful: the bond of this job. Once a firefighter, always a firefighter.

Yesterday, as hundreds of brother and sister firefighters poured into our city to stand with us, our weary hearts were lifted. The support shown to Captain Bennett’s family and to the CFD family was overwhelming in the best way possible. We weren’t surprised. This is what firefighters do. We show up. We stand together. We carry each other when it’s heavy.

We are deeply grateful to our fellow public servants from Camden City, Camden County, and the State of New Jersey for their professionalism and care in helping us prepare for such a meaningful tribute. It was a beautiful and dignified sendoff — honoring our fallen brother while giving his family the space they needed to mourn.

Thank you to the executive board of the PFANJ, especially President Caliente, for your leadership and for bringing every available resource to support our local unions. The PEER support team was a tremendous source of strength for our members. Your role in coming alongside us to help coordinate the logistics of such a large event will never be forgotten.

To IAFF General President Ed Kelly and 1st District VP Slevin: thank you for your support and for deploying LODD Support Coordinator Erin Lynch. Erin, you were truly a blessing to our department. We can’t say it enough — thank you.

We also want to recognize the departments that personally visited our firehouses in the immediate aftermath and stood shoulder to shoulder with us:

Philadelphia Fire Department
Gloucester City Fire Department
Cherry Hill Fire Department
Pennsauken Fire Department
Chester City Fire Department
Hamilton Township Fire Department
Voorhees Fire Department
Camden County Police Department
Cooper EMS
Camden Department of Public Works

And to the many departments across Camden and Burlington Counties who positioned aerial apparatus to form arches for our brother’s procession, at the hospital and at the funeral home — thank you. You helped ensure he was honored the way he deserved.

Special thanks to Freedom Mortgage Pavilion, Mission BBQ, Donkey’s Place, Ricardo’s Pizza, and Mulligan’s Bar and Grill for keeping our members fed this past week. Your generosity meant more than you know.

Thank you to al the elected officials that reached out to us in support.

There were many individuals who reached out to us and offered support—thank you!

To the Camden Fire Department family, we are hurting. We are tired. But we are not alone. We will carry each other through this.

We are Camden – the City Invincible.

Stay strong.

Today (Feb 11th), Rehab 13 had the profound honor of serving as the lead Rehab unit at the funeral of fallen hero Howard Bennett.

We were asked to assist by providing hot drinks and support for the many attendees who gathered to pay their respects. Standing alongside so many members of the first responder community and the public who came out to honor his life was both humbling and deeply meaningful.

It is a privilege to serve those who dedicate their lives to serving others. We hold the utmost respect for all first responders and the sacrifices they and their families make every single day.

Rest easy, Howard Bennett. Your service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Last night, January 31st, extending into the early morning hours of February 1st, Rehab 13 was dispatched to a dwelling fire in Cherry Hill.

Firefighters operated under extremely difficult conditions, with bitter cold and strong winds adding to an already dangerous situation. Despite these challenges, they battled relentlessly and persevered, demonstrating incredible courage, resilience, and commitment to protecting others.

Tragically, one fatality was reported, and one firefighter was injured in the line of duty. Our hearts are with the victim’s family and loved ones, and we are keeping the injured firefighter in our thoughts as they recover.

This incident is a sobering reminder of the risks our first responders face every time they answer the call and the bravery they show, no matter the conditions.
