๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ HONORING OUR WOMEN VETERANS ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

On this 2026 Women Veterans Recognition Day, June 12th, your Cherry Hill Professional Firefighters proudly honor International Association of Fire Fighters Local 2663 Cherry Hill Fire Department Firefighter/EMT and U.S. Coast Guard Veteran Lacey Heist and CHFD EMT and U.S. Marine Corps Veteran Shanner Danner for their service and sacrifice to our nation.

Women Veterans Recognition Day is observed annually on June 12th to honor the service and sacrifices of female members of the U.S. military. This date marks the anniversary of the 1948 Women's Armed Services Integration Act, landmark legislation signed by President Harry S. Truman that granted women the right to serve as permanent members of the regular Armed Forces.

We are grateful for Lacey and Shannon's dedicationโ€”first to our country in uniform, and now to our community as first responders. Thank you both for your continued service! ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿš’

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ **HONORING MEMORIAL DAY & LT. MICHAEL MURPHY THROUGH THE MURPH CHALLENGE** ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Several of your Cherry Hill Fire Department Professional Firefighters completed The Murph Challenge this Memorial Day, honoring the legacy of Navy Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy and all those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

**What is "The Murph"?**
A grueling workout performed every Memorial Day by military members, first responders, and civilians across the country. The workout consists of:
โ€ข 1-mile run
โ€ข 100 pull-ups
โ€ข 200 push-ups
โ€ข 300 squats
โ€ข 1-mile run
*All optionally completed while wearing a 20-lb vest or body armor*

**Why is it Important?**
Lt. Michael Murphy, a Navy SEAL, was killed in action in Afghanistan on June 28, 2005, and posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions. "Murph" was his favorite workout, and he named it "Body Armor" to symbolize the weight carried by those who serve.

Completing the Murph on Memorial Day has become a tradition to honor Lt. Murphy and remember all our fallen heroes who paid the ultimate price for our freedoms. It's a physical reminder of the sacrifice, dedication, and courage displayed by our military service members every day.

We are proud of our members who pushed through this challenging workout to pay tribute to those who gave everything. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Participating today (pictured left to right in first photo):
Probationary Firefighter/EMT Zachariah Katz (Engine 1322), FF/EMT Joe Ioannucci (Squad 13), FF/EMT Will Varner (Engine 1352), Lt. Shaun Ferguson (Engine 1322), Probationary FF/EMT Albert Smith (Ladder 1324), FF/EMT Andrew DeFina (Ladder 1324), Fire Marshal Mark Scian (Fire Marshal's Office), and FF/EMT Jake Borrelli (Engine 1322).

**Never Forget. Always Honor.**

๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ HONORING OUR VETERANS AT LOCUSTWOOD CEMETERY ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Your Cherry Hill Professional Firefighters would like to thank the American Legion Cherry Hill NJ for allowing our members to once again take part in the 91st Annual Flagging of Veterans Graves at Locustwood Memorial Park, held this past Sunday, May 17th, 2026.

This meaningful tradition, now in its 91st year, honors the over 2,400 veterans laid to rest at Locustwood Cemetery - from those who paid the ultimate sacrifice during WWII through the Global War on Terrorism, to those who served our nation and passed in the years after their service.

It is an honor for our members to participate in this solemn tradition alongside our community partners as we pay respect and remember those who served our great nation.

May we be eternally grateful for our servicemen and women who put their lives on the line and made the ultimate sacrifice. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ
