Dr. Ronald Goodlett is an esteemed Orthopedic Surgeon, Department Chief, and leader within the Army Medicine community.

His photo was mistakenly used in an advertisement for the Army Nurse Corps. The Medical Recruiting Brigade understands the unique skill sets required of each member of the Army Medicine Team. I sincerely apologize for this mistake.

We are working diligently to eliminate any potential negative impacts to Dr. Goodlett's professional identity and to ensure similar errors do not occur in the future.

COL Katrina Walters, MD
Medical Recruiting Brigade Commander

(Orthopedic vs. Orthopaedic
These are simply two alternate, and correct, spellings for the same branch of medicine. While orthopedic is the more commonly used and accepted spelling, especially in American english, orthopaedic is the more traditional academic and British spelling)

The 1st Medical Recruiting Battalion’s inaugural Applicant Tour is a recruiting approach that brings applicants, mostly college students, to an Army hospital. Applicants had a chance to explore, speak with Army healthcare practitioners, and receive their required physical exams for commissioning and accessions into the US Army.

The battalion brought eight applicants to the Alexander T. Augusta Military Medical Center at Fort Belvoir, Virginia (formerly the Fort Belvoir Community Hospital) for its kick-off tour.

The tour concluded with a Q&A session, where applicants asked a resident physician about quality-of-life and quality-of-practice issues.

“The Applicant Tour experience makes Army Medicine a tangible option,”
-David Dormann, 1MRBn’s Education Services Specialist.

Second Lieutenant Isaiah King is commissioned by his grandfather, a lieutenant colonel retired, at the Washington D.C. Medical Recruiting Station.

Second Lieutenant King had an accident when he was struck by a car on his bike, and the experience with the medical professionals motivated him to become a Medical Doctor.

The doctor who cared for him was an Army Veteran who became his mentor while he was in his undergraduate degree.

Second Lieutenant King had the opportunity to shadow the doctor who cared for him, and their exchange fostered his desire to care for service members and their families.
