The BookMates children's literacy program of the Jewish Community Relations Council celebrated two special milestones on Wednesday evening, June 10– 25 years of service to the region and 10 years of partnership with the Cherry Hill Police Department. Mayor Fleisher was pleased to extend congratulations and present a proclamation recognizing BookMates’ important work to foster literacy, self-esteem, and a lifelong love of reading.

We thank our officers who dedicate their time to this meaningful volunteer opportunity, which strengthens trust and connection between the Cherry Hill Police and our young residents, schools, and community partners.

Through collaboration and partnership, we can positively impact the health and wellbeing of our community. That was the message of Jefferson Health’s Partners in Purpose event, which featured a panel discussion between Mayor Fleisher and Aaron Chang, President, Jefferson Health East Region. Jefferson Hospital Cherry Hill–a valued partner and sponsor of the Mayor’s Wellness Campaign–brought together leaders from non-profits, faith-based organizations, and local government to discuss building health equity through trusted community networks.

Mayor Fleisher and Council Member DiRenzo were pleased to participate, along with Chief Ostermueller, Superintendent Morton, and Commissioner Cooley Fleisher. Thank you to Jefferson CEO Joseph Cacchione, Humana Chief Health Equity and Community Impact Officer Keith Leaphart, and Aaron Chang, for hosting this thought-provoking event.

Our appliances and metals collection process has changed to serve residents more efficiently!

•NEW-Appliances & Metal Items:

To better serve residents, these items will be picked up every Thursday by appointment. Call DPW by 3pm on Wednesday to schedule. Place items at the curb by 7am Thursday. If they’re still there after 7am Friday, give DPW a call at (856) 424-4422 or connect here.

• Bulk Trash:

As a reminder, bulk trash is collected on your regular trash day — no appointment needed. A different truck collects bulk items, so pickup may happen a few hours after your normal trash is collected. If it’s still out by 7am the next day, contact DPW at (856) 424-4422.
