The Bluff St. construction project has shifted. The BAC is no longer accessible from the Community Center/High School side. It is now accessible from 9th St.

We have lots of kids around all day so please use the parking lot correctly. It is one way all the way around. We are asking people to park opposite the parking lines on the side nearest to Bluff. This will allow easy pull in/pull out parking.

The National Weather Service has placed Cherokee County in a ๐‹๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ฅ ๐Ÿ ๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ ๐จ๐Ÿ ๐Ÿ“ severe weather risk for later this afternoon into the evening. While this is considered a lower-end severe threat, a few storms could still become strong to severe. ๐ŸŒฉ๏ธ

๐Ÿ•“ Timing: 4 PM โ€“ 9 PM
๐ŸŒฌ๏ธ Main threats:
โ€ข Strong wind gusts up to 60 MPH
โ€ข Small hail possible
โ€ข Heavy rainfall and lightning

๐Ÿ“ฑ Have multiple ways to receive weather warnings today and tonight. As always, never drive through flooded roadways and stay clear of downed power lines if storms develop.

We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates if needed. Stay weather aware, Cherokee County! ๐Ÿš’๐Ÿšจ

After a long night of severe weather responses, the Cherokee Fire Department responded to more than 10 different calls for power lines down and storm-related hazards across the area. Crews worked throughout the evening assisting with dangerous conditions and helping keep roadways and the public safe.

Shortly after clearing those calls and getting equipment back into service, Cherokee Fire was then called to assist at a structure fire in rural Quimby. Firefighters remained on scene for an extended period of time assisting neighboring departments with fire operations.

This serves as a reminder that emergency response does not stop after the storm passes. We are incredibly proud of the dedication of all responding firefighters, EMS personnel, dispatchers, utility crews, and law enforcement agencies who worked through the night to serve our communities.

Please continue to use caution around downed power lines and allow crews space to work when emergency scenes are active.
