August stats are in the bag! In all, you were checking out more materials than last August, and saved $8,633 more than last year checking out materials from the library versus buying materials.

Tonies and young adult materials were two of the dark horses which also saw quite a bit of circulation. With that being said we are looking at investing in more Tonies towards the end of the year and would love some recommendations on which you would like to see as a part of the library's collection!

We're thrilled to announce a brand new Story Book Walk at Gillette Park! This wonderful addition to our community was made possible through the generous support of a private foundation, and we can't wait to share it with all of you.

We're currently planning a grand opening celebration, and we want YOU to be part of shaping it. What would you love to see at this event? Games, refreshments, a special guest reader, live music? Drop your ideas in the comments or stop by the library and let us know!

Here's how it will work: the books along the walk will change with the seasons, so there will always be something new to discover as you stroll through the park with your little ones (or the young at heart).

Looking ahead, we're also hoping to use this space for special community events, including honoring Cherokee's veterans around Veterans Day, and partnering with the hospital for their cancer walk. We see the Story Book Walk as more than just a place to read; we hope it becomes a gathering point for our whole community.

Stay tuned for more details, and thank you to our generous funder and the Cherokee City Staff for helping bring this project to life! 🍂📖

Shelf Talkers are done in the YA section! They’ll rotate monthly so there will always be different books highlighted on each shelf. New books are still in the clear holders on all three sides..I’ll figure out a way to point them out easier.

Stop in and let me know what you think-do they help you decide what to pick up to read?

There will be a brand new full-dome movie to view, as well as free crafts, activities, and all the excitement of the museum to enjoy! Curious? Send us a message for more information! Thank you once again to the museum for being such an amazing community partner and resource!

Great July statistics! We saw about a 4% increase in junior fiction compared with this time last year! Overall over the summer junior level fiction saw an increase of around 10%, which we can pretty safely attribute to the excitement of the Books for Bikes program! In other news we've been busy issuing stacks of library cards as well as witnessing a fair uptick in our WiFi usage, which we attribute to the fair and all of the visitors we had coming to town for events. Until next month!
