Cheriton Volunteer Fire Company Today, CVFC is a twenty plus member fire company that provides first-alert emergency response over thirty square miles in lower Northampton County.

From our humble beginnings in1948 in a one-room, dirt floor barn running a 1932 American-LaFrance pumper, Station 14 has grown into a front-line Fire Department that citizens of Northampton County can rely on for a fast, professional response.

Tractor Trailer Crashed Into Water
📍US Rt 13 (SB) - Virginia

Multiple First Responders have been dispatched to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Virginia for a motor vehicle crash. It's reported that a tractor trailer went off the bridge and into the water.

Update #1 at 7:16 AM - Confirmed one vehicle in the water.

Update #2 at 7:20 AM - First responders are calling this a “recovery”. ⚠️Please avoid this area due to the crash investigation. Traffic will be delayed. Please allow first responders to work without obstruction. Updates will be posted below as more information becomes available.

Update #3 at 4:11 PM - We can now confirm that the driver of the Perdue Truck that was crossing the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel and drove over the side of the bridge, was confirmed to be deceased. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this tough time.

Our hearts are heavy as we mourn the loss of two iconic people. Bill Powell and Jackie Bailey were two great men that served this community whole heartedly until their final days. The Fire and EMS communities are here for your families. We have it from here brothers.
