MRC Has a New Meeting Night!

The Madras Redevelopment Commission is moving to a new regular meeting schedule. MRC meetings will now be held on the third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.

Tonight’s meeting will begin at a special start time of 5:45 p.m. to accommodate a City Council special meeting and executive session beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The MRC meeting will be held at Madras City Hall, 125 SW E Street.

STREET STRIPING – NO PARKING

The City of Madras Public Works Department will complete road striping on Thursday, September 10, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Work is planned on portions of Oak Street, 7th Street, C Street, J Street, Kemper Way and Cherry Lane. Please review the accompanying map for the project areas.

NO PARKING will be permitted on the roadway within the project areas during striping. Door hangers will be delivered, and notices will be placed on vehicles parked along the affected streets.

Vehicles remaining in the project area during striping are subject to towing at the owner’s expense.

Please move vehicles before 7:00 a.m. Thursday and give crews room to work safely and efficiently. Thank you for your cooperation.

The Madras City Council appointed Tony Chard and Chris Heden to fill two temporary Council vacancies during its September 1 special meeting.

Both took their oaths of office that evening and will serve through December 31, 2026. Their first meeting as seated councilors will be Tuesday, September 8.

The appointments fill only the remainder of the current unexpired terms and do not replace or affect the November General Election.

The City sincerely thanks all eight applicants who participated in the public interview process and demonstrated a strong interest in serving Madras.
