Two mini Saturday camps and two evening music rehearsals later, and the CHS Marching Band is ready to hit the 2026 marching band season head on in August! We ended yesterday’s mini camp rehearsing a portion of our show as a full music ensemble. We are excited to get to work later this summer and start bringing our 2026 program to life! Public show announcement coming soon!!!

Our trombone trio, mallet duet, brass choir, woodwind choir, and our soloists Lauren and Ryan had great performances at State Solo and Ensemble the past couple of days.

Lauren Ricketson took home second place in the Euphonium solo division, and our brass vote took home second place in the brass ensemble large division. A huge congratulations to Lauren and the brass core on their placements!

Our orchestra and choir students also performed great all weekend as well. Shout out to Binx Dobson, who was our vocal soloist for us while our Wind Ensemble played Angels in the Architecture in March, who received third place in the alto solo voice category!

Another great musical weekend in the books for our amazing Blackhawks. Up next, marching band percussion placements on Tuesday and our first full group mini camp on Saturday!

Both Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble earned superior ratings at the NEMEA regional large group festival yesterday!

Thursday both groups had a CHS alumni, who is now a director of bands at a university in Wisconsin, visit while he was in town. Thank you Devin Otto for stopping by!

And today marks the end to a very very busy week with our final Winter Guard and Indoor Percussion competition of the season in Wenatchee!

Our Winter Guard and Indoor Percussion groups had great performances at the Ridgeline Winter Showcase. Our Winter Guard placed fourth in their division and our Indoor Percussion Ensemble placed first in their division. Both groups have one more competition in Wenatchee next Saturday before our seasons come to an end.

Next up, District Jazz Concert tomorrow night at 7pm!

It’s a very busy couple of weeks for the Cheney Band program!

Saturday March 21st- Indoor Percussion and Winter Guard competition at Ridgeline HS.

Monday March 23rd- District Jazz Concert at CHS 7pm. Featuring both high school bands and our two middle school bands.

Wednesday March 25th- CHS Band Concert at CHS 7pm. Featuring the CHS Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble.

Friday March 27th- NEMEA Large Group Festival. Both the CHS Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble.

Saturday March 28th- Indoor Percussion and Winter Guard at Pacific Performing Arts Championships in Wenatchee.
