No days off when it comes to keeping our community safe!

We spent our Labor Day Weekend morning sharpening our skills with some basic ladder raise drills.

We want to extend a massive thank you to our neighbors at Elkins Park Fire Company Quint 3!

They brought their apparatus over so our members could practice climbing their main aerial and throwing 35’ ladders.

We truly appreciate the teamwork and mutual aid support!

Today is National Volunteer Firefighters Recognition Day, and we’re proud to honor the men and women who volunteer their time to serve their communities — 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Being a volunteer firefighter means countless hours spent training, answering calls, maintaining equipment, attending community events, and staying ready the moment the pager goes off — all while balancing jobs, families, and everything else life brings.

For 130 years, the members of the Cheltenham Fire Company have proudly served the township and our surrounding communities. Generations of volunteers have walked through our doors with the same goal: Neighbors helping neighbors.

Today, we recognize and thank our current members, those who served before us, and all volunteer firefighters who continue to answer the call in communities everywhere.

Thank you for your time, your dedication, and your service.

Cheltenham Fire Company proudly celebrates the conclusion of this year’s Fire Camp. On Thursday evening, 14 Cadets successfully completed the final skill challenge course, demonstrating the discipline, teamwork, and commitment they’ve shown throughout the program.

The night wrapped up with a little friendly competition during the Battle of the Barrel, where two teams went head‑to‑head using high‑pressure fire hoses to push a suspended barrel along an overhead cable toward their opponent’s side. A perfect mix of skill, excitement, and camaraderie to end an incredible week.

This achievement would not be possible without the instructors, volunteers, and community partners who dedicated their time and expertise to support these Cadets. Your efforts continue to strengthen our mission and our community.

Fire Camp is off to a great start! 🚒

We had a fantastic first night with our campers learning about turnout gear, SCBA, fire apparatus, and the basics of the fire service. We can’t wait for the rest of camp!

🚨 🚨 INCIDENT UPDATE: FLASH FLOOD RECAP & SAFETY REMINDER 🚨

Our crews had an incredibly busy and dangerous evening yesterday following the severe, torrential rainstorms that rolled through Montgomery County.

As flash flooding rapidly took over localized areas, the Cheltenham Fire Company was dispatched to multiple emergencies.

⛔ Road Closures & Hazards

Numerous roads had to be quickly closed off due to rising water and hazardous conditions. We urge all residents to respect all emergency cones and barricades—they are there for your protection.

⚠️ A Message From Our Firefighters: Turn Around, Don't Drown!

Many of yesterday's incidents could have been avoided.

Please remember: Visibility is low during evening storms, making it hard to see how deep water actually is. Just 6 inches of water can cause you to lose control of your vehicle. Never drive around barricades or through moving water.

A massive thank you to our dedicated volunteer firefighters and mutual aid crews who worked tirelessly through the night to keep Cheltenham Township safe. 🐕‍🦺🚒

In line with the principle of “Iron sharpens Iron”, members utilized their afternoon to refine their skills with a set of irons, practicing forcible entry and ladder operations. Furthermore, our driver trainee logged time pumping Squad 4.

Members participated in hose line operations and nozzle confidence drills during the evening training, which enhanced confidence, promoted trust, and offered a much-needed break from the current heat.

Today, we honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. We are grateful to stand alongside our community at today’s Memorial Day service, remembering those who gave everything for the freedoms we enjoy every day.
