The Chelsea City Council is standing with neighboring Lima Township as it seeks more time to study large-scale power generation projects.

The Chelsea City Council voted to support Lima Township's temporary moratorium on new power generating facilities, giving township officials additional time to review zoning regulations and evaluate the potential impacts of future energy projects. The resolution follows concerns raised over the possibility of a proposed natural gas power plant in the area and emphasizes the importance of thoughtful planning before major development moves forward.

Read why Chelsea officials voiced their support, what the moratorium covers, and what happens next below.
