Today our middle school students and staff practiced a lockdown drill. We practice these drills to ensure both students and staff know what to do in the event of a true emergency. We are thankful for an upgraded intercom system that makes the notification of the event much clearer and much quicker. Last year our district invested in upgrades to the intercom systems across the district.

Parents you can be a part of our preparedness by asking your student what they are to do in the event of an emergency such as a fire, medical emergency, intruder or tornado. Next week we will practice a tornado drill.

Empowering our students to make healthy, informed choices is a top priority at CMS! 💚

Starting Thursday, September 10th, our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders will participate in the *Key Choices Program* during their science and geography classes. This program provides critical substance abuse prevention skills and drug and poisoning awareness.

Activities for the week of August 31st

Today at CMS, our Emergency Response Team practiced a cardiac emergency. Our students were placed on a Hold Tight, as the staff responded to the practice scenario. We practice these situations to help us be better prepared in the event of a real cardiac emergency.

What is a Hold Tight?

Students and staff will be placed in a Hold Tight when a situation occurs that is not a danger to our students and staff, but requires keeping a space cleared. An example would be a medical emergency. During a hold tight, teachers continue teaching and students continue learning, but no one leaves the classroom. We do this out of respect for privacy of the individual experiencing the emergency and to allow medical personnel more space to work.

We will soon practice a fire drill, a lockdown drill and a tornado drill. If you would like more information on the drills we practice, contact the middle school office. If you would like to serve on our Safe School/Healthy School Committee, reach out to Mrs. Wilson at [email protected].

Dear Club Families,

We want to let our club families know that the Boys & Girls Club will not be open when school begins on Wednesday, August 19.

We are currently restructuring our Club to make it bigger, better, and an even more positive place for our members. We truly appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued support as we work through this transition.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back for a Grand Re-Opening at a current tentative date of September 14th. We encourage all club members and parents to join us!

Have you ever wanted to give your student an opportunity to experience the history of America first-hand? Chelsea Middle School is excited to announce we will be offering our 8th grade students an opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. next June for a week-long tour of American history. If you would like to learn more about this opportunity, please join us for an informational meeting Thursday, August 13th at 7:00pm in the high school gym. We will discuss dates , details and costs of the trip, answer questions and show highlights of some of the stops the group will be visiting.
