We love our pets at CDL, and that includes remembering those that we have lost. We have installed a new pet remembrance wind chime in the Reading Garden to celebrate patron and staff pets who have crossed the rainbow bridge. If you missed the chance to make a remembrance tile in honor of your pet during our Ingenuity Engine programs in August, it's not too late! Contact the Ingenuity Engine librarian staff to include your pet in the installation!

Got a budding writer at home? The Kids Writing Workshop is back for a fourth round starting Sep. 16! Author and local parent Michelle Webster-Hein will lead this workshop, which meets weekly on Wednesdays for five sessions. Kids ages 8-12 will learn to develop characters, incorporate lifelike details, and stretch their imaginations with writing prompts and tips from Michelle. We have two supply drives in the library lobby this week! In honor of fair week, Faith In Action - Chelsea/Dexter is collecting top pantry needs, especially: rice and pasta sides, Manwich, canned chili, Kraft mac & cheese, Hamburger Helper, baked beans, and cereal. And, in honor of the Dog Days of Summer, we are collecting pet supplies for Humane Society of Huron Valley. You can find the bins on either side of the lobby doors. Thank you to those that have already contributed!
