Views from the first day of school!

Today we welcomed students back to school in Chelsea for the 2026-27 school year! Teachers, school leaders and our entire staff greeted everyone with smilies and excitement for the year ahead.

As the new school year commences, we are one district filled with the many hearts of caring adults who are prepared to help every student in Chelsea succeed. A new year brings a new opportunity to help our children achieve all that they are capable of.

We are so excited for the year ahead and look forward to all that is yet to come!

¡Hoy les dimos la bienvenida de regreso a clases a nuestros estudiantes de Chelsea para el año escolar 2026-27! Maestros, líderes escolares y todo nuestro personal recibieron a todos con sonrisas y mucho entusiasmo por el año que comienza.

One more sleep!

A final reminder that tomorrow is the 𝙛𝙞𝙧𝙨𝙩 𝙙𝙖𝙮 𝙤𝙛 𝙨𝙘𝙝𝙤𝙤𝙡 for students in 1st-12th grade.

We look forward to welcoming most of our students back to school tomorrow, and can't wait for our Pre-K and Kindergarten student to start school next week (Monday, August 31).

CPS and the Berkowitz School were honored to be included in an "All-Access with Andy Garcia" segment profiling the amazing work of Ignite Reading and the impact it is having on Chelsea students!

The segment will air on more than 170 participating Public Television stations nationwide, where it will air for one full year through 2027. The segment includes interviews with CPS Superintendent Dr. Almi G. Abeyta, Berkowitz School Principal Blanca Restrepo, and a Berkowitz parent and student.

Welcome back, CPS educators!

Teachers returned to schools across the district today ahead of the first day of school on Wednesday!

Throughout the day, educators participated in professional development focused on instruction and community-building, and continued preparing classrooms and schools to welcome students back this week.

We’re excited and ready for the first day of school on Wednesday (grades 1-12)!

¡Hoy, los maestros /asregresaron a las escuelas de todo el distrito para prepararse para el primer día de clases este miércoles!

A lo largo del día, los maestros/as participaron en actividades de desarrollo profesional enfocadas en la enseñanza y en fortalecer la comunidad escolar, y continuaron preparando las aulas y las escuelas para darles la bienvenida a nuestros estudiantes esta semana.
