Joan Cromwell took our phone and we have NO regrets—this Food & Music Festival is coming to Chelsea this Juneteenth—and you do NOT want to miss it!

This high-energy celebration of freedom, culture, and community will feature an exciting lineup of live performances, including, Caribbean Vibe Steel Drum Band, BOMBAntillana, Dave Macklin Band, Brothers Walk Band. The event will also showcase powerful spoken word by Tru Kwene and a jaw-dropping hip-hop performance by Phunk Phenomenon.

Attendees can enjoy a wide variety of food vendors offering delicious cultural foods and snacks, a lively marketplace, and family-friendly activities throughout the day. Highlights include free hair braiding, henna tattooing, games for children, and a visit from the MGB Van, offering valuable community screenings, along with access to community resources and workforce opportunities.

Applications received by Wednesday will be considered for that week's events. Applications submitted after Wednesday will still be considered for future weeks.

Chelsea resident and former Chelsea High School teacher and track coach Hillary Paul Metcalf is preparing to represent Team USA at the World Hockey Masters in the Netherlands, and we recently had the honor of recognizing her incredible achievements.

In this special message, Hillary reflects on the lifelong impact of sports, the power of being part of a team, and shares words of gratitude for the students, athletes, family, and community that have supported her journey.

As plans move forward to renovate Kayem Park, the City is inviting residents to learn about the final project design, a tentative project timeline, and more, during a third and final community meeting on Tuesday, June 23, at 5:30 p.m. at 248 Chestnut Street.

The renovation is fully funded by a State PARC grant.
