Thank you for being there for the kids today. Longfellow values each family's participation. We encourage you to make a conscious decision to further develop a love of learning for your child/children. Spend time this summer reading with them, have meaningful talks, and send them outside to play. By limiting their screen time, you'll be supporting their brain's natural development. This stimulates their problem solving abilities, as well as developing pathways of memorization that matter in their day-to-day world. Once again, thank you for sharing your beautiful children with us. Please share any photos that you had from today. We would love to see them.

“Senior Walk Through 2026”

To the Chelsea High School Class of 2026,
Roughly twelve years ago, many of you were standing in the exact same spot these kindergarteners are in now—looking up at a big world with wide eyes and even bigger dreams.
Since then, your determination, your unique talents, and your convictions have grown right alongside you. That once "small voice" you started with has transformed into a powerful force—one capable of leaving a lasting, positive impact on this world.
As you listened to these kindergarten students sing “One Small Voice”, we hope you took a moment to look around. Remember where you started, honor how far you’ve come, and boldly set your sights on where you want to go next.
No matter where the road leads after graduation, never forget who you are. You carry the fierce, resilient Heart of a Green Dragon within you, and that stays with you forever. We believe in you, we are incredibly proud of you, and Chelsea will always be cheering you on in all your future endeavors.
Once a Dragon, always a Dragon!

Dear Parents, Families, and Staff,

Our community is deeply saddened by the recent loss of our longtime coach, teacher, mentor, and colleague, Frank Captain. He poured so much into our students and school, and his absence will be profoundly felt.

In order to honor his memory, support our staff, and give our community space to grieve, we are modifying our schedule for the remainder of the week. While we navigate this loss, we also want to maintain moments of normalcy and joy for our students. Please review the updated schedule below:

Tuesday (Tomorrow): Fun Day

We will proceed with our scheduled Fun Day during normal school hours. Our goal is to keep this a bright, positive day for the students.

Wednesday: End of Year Program & Early Dismissal

Our End of Year Program will begin at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday. * Students will be dismissed immediately following the conclusion of the program. Please plan for early pickup accordingly.

Thursday & Friday: Virtual Learning Days

School will be entirely virtual on both days.

This adjustment allows our staff and community to attend the funeral services for Frank Captain, which are scheduled for Thursday at 11:00 a.m.

Thank you so much for your grace, understanding, and continued support of our school family during this incredibly difficult time. Please keep the Captain family and our entire community in your thoughts.

Sharing a photo of Coach Captain and grandson Archer. The whole family was involved in donating two basketball goals and several jr size basketballs to enrich our playground. Enrich they did! The goals continue to be used daily. Coach, we will always be thankful for you and your family.

The kindergarten field trip was a blast! Thank you to our wonderful parents, guardians, and family members who came to make Discovery Lab so enjoyable! Our teachers and staff did a great job balancing having fun and being safe! Some of our staff will probably be sore due to playing so hard!

At Longfellow ELC, every Pre-K and Kindergarten teacher demonstrates an extraordinary commitment to the care, growth, and education of each child who walks through our doors. Their dedication goes far beyond academics. They create classrooms where children feel safe, valued, encouraged, and inspired to learn. Each day, our teachers invest their hearts, time, patience, and creativity into helping students build confidence, independence, kindness, and a lifelong love of learning. They recognize the unique strengths and needs of every child and work tirelessly to ensure each student has the opportunity to succeed both socially and academically.

The success of our students is also deeply connected to the incredible support we receive from our churches, families and community businesses. We are truly grateful for the parents, guardians, and local partners who stand beside us every day. Your encouragement, generosity, and involvement strengthen our school community and help create meaningful opportunities for our children.

Through challenges, changes, and new opportunities, they have remained focused on providing exceptional care and education for every child. We are thankful for their dedication! Thank you for your loving support!
