Hello Chelsea School District Family…

My name is Jason Morris and I am excited to start on July 1st as the new Chelsea School District Communications Coordinator. I will be working on promoting all things related to the Chelsea School District beginning this summer and leading into the 26-27 school year.

One thing that I am excited to share is the creation of a Chelsea School District Podcast that I will be hosting. This is called “The Morning Bark”. You can find this podcast on Apple Podcasts along with Spotify. See the links below!

My goal of this podcast is to have information to you throughout the school year along with interviews with students, staff, and other key players to showcase the great things happening throughout the district.

Taking care of school buildings is an ongoing part of supporting students. Did you know a sinking fund is used for the physical side of schools – things like building repairs, safety improvements, and equipment?

As we head into the spring and summer months, you may hear more about school funding and terms like “operating millage.” The operating millage supports the day-to-day work of teaching and learning – including staff, student programs, and the services students rely on each day.
It’s also required for the district to receive its full per-pupil funding from the State of Michigan, helping ensure consistent support for students across Chelsea Schools.

While each proposal serves a different purpose, together they help support classroom learning, student programs, facilities, safety, and infrastructure across the district.

Please join us in welcoming Eric McCalla as the next Athletic Director of the Chelsea School District beginning July 1, 2026!

Eric brings nearly 20 years of educational leadership experience as a superintendent, principal, athletic director, teacher, and coach. A proud Chelsea graduate with deep community roots, we are excited to welcome Eric back to the Bulldog family and look forward to the leadership and energy he will bring to our students and athletic programs.
