Archery Basics for Kids with the Chelan Library

Saturday, September 26th at 11 am

The event will take place at Nature’s Window: Lake Chelan Museum of Wildlife, Natural History, and Art.

Join the Chelan Public Library for an opportunity for kids to learn about the basics of archery with local instructor Travis Shivel!

Learn a little more about Travis:

"I got into the sport three years ago, and since then I have fully immersed myself in everything from competing in outdoor archery events to custom arrow building and bow tuning to maximize my accuracy. I find the sport to be incredibly calming and accessible. I love teaching and it's even better when you can teach something you love. I have completed the NASP training course so I can teach those who are new to the sport, and am also a hunter education instructor and master hunter. I'm equally as happy to discuss how archery can translate into the field, or just be a fun hobby."

The event is open to children seven-years old and up. Registration is required to participate. A program waiver form must be signed by a guardian at the start of the program in order to participate.

We’re excited to welcome you to our new temporary location at the Lake Chelan Business Center (the old hospital)!

You can drive right up to the second-floor parking lot (the old ER entrance) and come visit us at the library. We’re happy to be here and look forward to seeing you!

We will still be open at 10 am if you would like to checkout a book, pick up a hold, or enjoy the new space!

Due to the move of our Chelan Library Pop-Up, we will not be having a Lake Chelan Writers’ Group meeting this month.

We can’t wait to see you next month in our new space at Lake Chelan Business Center, 503 E. Highland Avenue #207! We’ll see you there!

Thank you to everyone providing essential support during the wildfires. Your dedication and hard work mean so much to our community!

If you stop by our Tonasket Public Library, be sure to check out the City of Tonasket local hero display!

The city is compiling a list of local heroes who provided essential support during the Sinlahekin Fire crisis. Names submitted by community members are currently on display at City Hall. ​If you would like to nominate someone who went above and beyond, please contact City Hall.

📍 We're moving!

Our pop-up library in the Chelan Public Library lobby closes Friday, August 21. We're reopening Monday, August 31 in a bigger temporary space at 503 E. Highland Ave #207, the old Chelan Hospital building which is now known as The HUB: Lake Chelan Business Center.

What that means for you:

📚 More shelves, more to browse
💻 More public computers
🎉 Room for programs again
🪑 Somewhere comfortable to sit

Open through the end of the year while the City's repairs move forward. The refreshed Chelan Library opens in 2027.
