Our back to school excitement just keeps building! This morning, we welcomed our students in grades 1-2 to James Lintott Elementary. What fun to see so many enthusiastic families and learners ready to start a new school year on a positive note. Next in line is our Class of 2039 kindergarteners. We'll see you on Tuesday, Sept. 8!

Ready? Set? Go! We officially kicked off the 2026-2027 school year this morning by welcoming our students in grades 3-12 for their first day of school. Students in grades 1-2, we are so excited to meet you tomorrow! Kindergarteners, we will see you next Tuesday, Sept. 8.

As the first day of school gets closer, a new school year is beginning to take shape—and with it comes a new opportunity to learn, grow, dream, and make a difference.

This year, the Chehalis School District is Powered by Purpose.

Purpose is what gives our work meaning. It’s the reason we show up, the reason we keep going when things get hard, and the reason we believe in what’s possible.

For our students, it might mean discovering a passion, reaching a goal, making a new friend, or simply believing in themselves a little more than they did yesterday.

For our families, it means being the support system, the encouragement, and the reminder that every child has something special to offer.

And for our staff, it means creating opportunities, building relationships, and helping every student discover the purpose that can propel them forward.

As we begin this school year together, let’s remember: We are not just preparing students for the future. We are helping them discover the purpose that will shape it.

To our students and families—welcome back. A new year is here, and there is so much possibility ahead.

We are beyond excited to kick off the 2026-2027 school year next week! Back to School week begins for the Chehalis School District with the first day of school for grades 3-12 this coming Tuesday, Sept. 1. The next day, Sept. 2, is the first day for students in grades 1-2. All schools are closed Sept. 4-7 for the Labor Day holiday, then we welcome the class of 2039 to our hallways as kindergarteners on Tuesday, Sept. 8. Welcome, Class of 2030! Yesterday, our incoming freshmen explored W.F. West High School during Freshman Link Day—a cherished tradition that helps 9th graders discover their new home and embrace The Bearcat Way.

Today it's time for grades 10-12! Here's your Readiness Day schedule: Seniors (12th): 8-10 a.m. Juniors (11th): 10 a.m.-12 p.m. Sophomores (10th): 1-3 p.m.

Our Bearcat Nation is truly better together and we already know it's going to be a great year.

Hey Bearcats, it's time to get ready for the 2026-2027 school year and we've got a few activities coming up you should know about:
- Aug. 18 - Freshman Link Day - 8 a.m. to noon for all incoming 9th graders. Get your schedule, tour campus and discover The Bearcat Way. Students only!
- Aug. 19 - Readiness Day for 10-12th graders. During your class' time, swing by to get your schedule, purchase your ASB card or parking pass, get your picture taken and talk to counselors: 8-10 a.m. for 12th graders; 10 to noon for 11th graders; and 1-3 p.m. for 10th graders.
- Aug. 28 - 7-8 a.m. Coffee with the Principal in the Library. Students and parents are invited to come meet Principal Craig Curry, ask questions and get ready for a great year together
- Aug. 31. Family Open House 5:45-8 p.m. Meet staff, get tech support (ParentSquare, Skyward, Food Services) and ask questions.
We're looking forward to seeing you all and starting the year off on the right foot!

We are so proud to be part of this annual tradition that allows high school students from all over our area to explore the STEM field and careers. Thank you to the University of Washington students and staff and all of our sponsors who make this important event happen each year.

What a wonderful Saturday at the Cornerstone Partnership's annual Kindercarnival! Thank you to all the families who joined us for a day of learning, laughter and connection. We loved watching children and parents explore activities that looked like play but actually help our early learners develop skills they'll need in school. We're deeply grateful to our community partners who brought engaging activities and essential resources to our visitors.
