We enjoyed spending time with students from our four school districts during our annual Boys Empowerment Day yesterday as we work to strengthen the relationship between law enforcement and our youth. We’re excited for next week when we’ll host Girls Empowerment Day!

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. We also keep in our thoughts the families, friends, and loved ones who continue to carry their memory forward each day.

Because of their courage and selflessness, we enjoy the freedoms that are often taken for granted. Today, and every day, we are grateful. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸

Seat Belts Saves Lives
Buckle Up May 18 – May 31, and Every Day

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration along with the Cheektowaga Police Department is urging drivers to buckle up during the Click It or Ticket seat belt safety campaign and the Memorial Day weekend.

Participating law enforcement agencies will be taking a no-excuses approach to seat belt law enforcement, writing citations day and night.

Buckle Up the Right Way
•Place the shoulder belt across the middle of the chest and away from the neck.
•Lay the lap belt across the hips and not the stomach.
•NEVER place the seat belt behind the back or under arms.

We are asking friends and family to remind each other to buckle up in the front and back seats and to consider changing their habits if they don’t. Seat belts save lives, and everyone — front seat and back, child and adult — needs to remember to buckle up.

Cheektowaga Police Department will be participating in roving checkpoint patrols along with stationary checkpoints during this time period in order to help keep the public safe.

No matter the type of road or vehicle you're in, it’s crucial to always wear your seat belt. Failing to do so can lead to a ticket, but it also increases the...

During Law Enforcement Appreciation Week, we would like to recognize and thank the dedicated men and women who proudly serve and protect our community each and every day.

Behind the badge are individuals who sacrifice holidays, family time, sleep, and personal safety to answer the call whenever needed. Their commitment, courage, and compassion do not go unnoticed.

We are grateful for the unwavering dedication of all law enforcement officers — both here in our department and across the nation — who continue to serve with honor and integrity.

💙 Thank you to all law enforcement officers for your service, sacrifice, and commitment. 💙

We also want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Councilmember Barbara Bakowski for providing the delicious treats. We truly appreciate your thoughtfulness.
