This past week, Cheektowaga Police officers remained extremely busy responding to a wide range of calls throughout the town including assaults, domestic disputes, mental health emergencies, reckless driving complaints, suspicious activity, welfare checks, burglar alarms, DWI investigations, and numerous overnight traffic enforcement details.
Below are some of the more notable calls handled by patrol officers this week.
🚨 MAJOR INCIDENTS & INVESTIGATIONS
🔴 Weapon Wound Investigation | Harlem Rd. Area
Officers investigated a serious incident after a male reportedly arrived at a local emergency room suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the foot. Police determined the injury allegedly occurred while the firearm was being cleaned. The victim was later transported to ECMC for further treatment while officers processed the involved vehicle as part of the investigation.
🔴 Assault Investigation | Suzette Dr. Area
Cheektowaga Police launched an overnight assault investigation after reports that an individual had allegedly been struck in the head with a hammer during an altercation. Officers conducted follow-up interviews with witnesses and potential involved parties throughout the early morning hours.
🔴 Mental Health Crisis / Knife Threats | Bory Dr. Area
Patrol units responded to a reported mental health emergency after a male allegedly threatened family members and held a knife to his own throat during a manic episode. Officers searched the surrounding neighborhood after the individual briefly fled on foot before later locating him safely. EMS crews responded and the individual was transported to ECMC for evaluation.
🔴 DWI Arrest | Maryvale Dr. Area
A traffic stop conducted by officers resulted in a female driver being arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. The vehicle was towed from the scene and processed as evidence.
🔴 Domestic Trouble Investigation | Foisset Ave. Area
Police responded to reports of an intoxicated domestic disturbance involving a couple. Officers checked for warrants, interviewed involved parties, and documented the incident.
🔴 Massive Underage House Party | Evane Dr. Area
Cheektowaga Police assisted Depew Police with what dispatchers described as a massive underage party involving nearly 100 juveniles and young adults. Officers assisted with crowd control and dispersal operations as large groups exited the residence and surrounding area.
🔴 Missing Person / Vehicle Investigation | Arthur Musarra Pkwy. Area
A complainant reported his wife missing along with a stolen Cadillac Escalade. Officers conducted overnight area searches throughout surrounding neighborhoods attempting to locate both the missing individual and vehicle.
🔴 Suspicious Persons Complaint | Farmingdale Rd. Area
Residents reported suspicious individuals allegedly checking vehicle door handles overnight while walking through the neighborhood dressed in dark clothing. Officers located and interviewed the individuals during the investigation.
🚓 COMMUNITY CALLS & PATROL ACTIVITY
Throughout the week, Cheektowaga Police also handled numerous:
• Welfare checks involving elderly residents, medical alarms, and dementia-related concerns
• Mental health and crisis intervention calls
• Suspicious vehicles and suspicious persons complaints
• Burglar alarm activations and false alarm investigations
• Harassment complaints and neighbor disputes
• Traffic enforcement operations and vehicle checkpoints
• Property checks and overnight business patrols
• Animal complaints and loose dog calls
• Vehicle lockouts and public assists
• Reckless driving complaints and racing complaints
🚦 TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT ACTIVITY
Officers conducted dozens of overnight traffic stops throughout the town this week resulting in:
• Speeding citations
• Equipment violation tickets
• Tint violations
• Registration issues
• Lighting violations
• Reckless driving investigations
• DWI enforcement activity
Several traffic checkpoints and directed patrol operations were also conducted in high-traffic areas throughout the town.
🤣 YES… THAT REALLY HAPPENED: FUNNY COMPLAINTS OF THE WEEK
🐕 A runaway Husky escaped from home causing a frantic search by its owner… only for the dog to casually return home on its own a short time later.
👟 Officers responded to a neighbor dispute after someone allegedly threw another resident’s shoes down the stairs during an argument.
🌳 Police checked on a woman reportedly sleeping under a tree waiting for “the feds to come get her.” Officers determined no intervention was needed.
🔦 Residents reported possible prowlers using flashlights outside homes overnight, but officers later discovered neighbors were simply working outside on their property.
🚲 One overnight traffic stop involved a bicyclist being stopped because the bike allegedly did not have a proper light attached.
🐶 Officers also assisted with multiple loose dog complaints and neighborhood animal calls throughout the week.

Warmer weather often leads to increased overnight activity, reckless driving complaints, loud parties, and neighborhood disturbances. Please remember to lock vehicles, remove valuables from sight, avoid impaired driving, and report suspicious activity immediately if something feels unsafe.
