Cheboygan Junior Chiefs (CJC) is a local 501(c)3 organization that hosts multiple local youth sports reaching over 300 Kindergarten to 8th graders in our community. CJC organizes and funds all aspects of youth football, sideline cheer and wrestling and also helps with travel girls basketball. CJC strives to make these sports accessible to all children by not charging any or very reduced registration fees.

CJC's greatest needs are simply those willing to serve even an hour or two on game/tournament dates.

If you'd like more information about CJC programming, volunteer opportunities or how to make a donation please reach out to Michele Meldrum at 231-818-9266.

Thank you to all those who willingly give their time and talent into our community's youth through the Cheboygan Junior Chiefs program!

Cheboygan County Habitat for Humanity is doing so many great things in our county!

Organizational Information: Since our establishment in 1994, we have been tirelessly working to construct, rehabilitate, and repair homes for deserving families in Cheboygan County. Our housing programs have benefited 59 families to date! Over the past 30 years, our Home Repair Program has gained immense popularity and has become an equally important way for us to serve our mission alongside our traditional Homeownership Program.
We are committed to our mission of putting God's love into action by bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Our vision is to create a world where everyone has a decent place to call home. We firmly believe that together, we can achieve more.
We have an office staff of 5 and a Re Store staff of 4 who assist with our organization's day-to-day operations. We also have a board of directors of 8-12 who work to set the organization's strategic direction
We just completed 2 new home builds in Indian River and 8 to 1 o home repairs last calendar year. We anticipate building 2 new homes in Indian River, a home rehab in Cheboygan, and another 8 to 10 home repair projects this yea
Volunteer Needs: Cheboygan County Habitat for Humanity has volunteer needs that span across our organization. At the top, we need board members to help keep our organization moving forward. These volunteer positions are a 2-year term. From there, we need volunteers to serve on our board and operational committees. We have the following committees: Finance, Events, Board Development, Construction, Program Services, Fund Development, and ad-hoc committees as needed.
Daily, we need volunteers to help in our Habitat Restore. Volunteers could help pick up donations, organize merchandise, greet customers, assist donors and customers, and much more. Volunteers are typically needed between store hours and on Tuesdays.
When we are active on the job sites, we are looking for regular volunteers who can commit to working one day a week to provide constant support to our construction team. We are also looking for volunteers who can help when they are able, including both individual and group volunteers.
Occasionally, we need help in our office and with our different fundraisers. If you have a passion for affordable housing and would like to make an impact in the mission of Cheboygan County Habitat for Humanity, we will find the right volunteer task tor you!

Cheboygan Hockey Association provides youth hockey for ages 4 to 15. They average 90 to 100 registered athletes over five teams. There are approximately 125 volunteers that assist with managing the program whether it be cleaning at the ice rink, running the scoreboard, serving on the board of directors or other important service areas.

There are free "try out hockey" events hosted in late September and early October. The Association would love for parents/guardians to encourage their youth to come and experience what hockey is like!!

The greatest needs the group have is simply encouraging youth to try them out as well as donations which help keep hockey affordable for all those involved.

Thank you to all those that willingly volunteer their time to this program! If you would like more information regarding the Cheboygan Hockey Association please reach out to Mike Garst at 231-420-2984.
