WE’RE HIRING! Come work where the action is.

Cheboygan Main Street DDA is looking for a part-time Main Street Program Assistant to join our team!

We’re looking for someone who is organized, dependable, creative, comfortable working with people, and ready to jump into the wide variety of things that make Downtown Cheboygan happen.

This isn’t a job where every day looks the same. You might be:

• Helping with downtown events and activities
• Creating and scheduling social media
• Working with volunteers and downtown businesses
• Tackling office projects and keeping things organized
• Helping behind the scenes — and sometimes right in the middle of the action!

This is a part-time, year-round position, and some evening and Saturday availability is required.

Lots of variety. Lots of people. Lots of Downtown Cheboygan.

Interested? Check out the full job posting and application information here: https://www.cheboygan.org/residents/employment/

Questions? Contact Main Street DDA Executive Director Polly Schneider [email protected] 231-627-9931

Come help us make things happen in Downtown Cheboygan!

CARE ABOUT DOWNTOWN CHEBOYGAN? PULL UP A CHAIR.

Cheboygan Main Street DDA has an opening on our Board of Directors, and we’re looking for someone who wants to play an active role in shaping the future of Downtown Cheboygan.

This isn’t a once-a-month-meeting kind of board.

Our board members are part of the work. They serve on committees, help move projects forward, participate in Main Street initiatives and events, and bring their ideas, expertise and energy to the table.

Board members should be prepared to average approximately 10 hours per month outside of the regular monthly board meeting.

We’re looking for someone who:
• Has an interest in a property or business within the downtown district or is a resident of the district
• Can attend monthly board meetings, typically held the third Tuesday at 6:00 PM
• Can actively participate an average of approximately 10 hours per month beyond regular board meetings
• Is willing to serve a four-year term
• Wants to roll up their sleeves and help make good things happen downtown

You don’t need to be an expert in downtown development. We’re looking for someone who cares about Downtown Cheboygan, brings a valuable perspective, and is ready to participate.

Applications are due by 4:00 PM Thursday, October 8, 2026.

Board & Commission applications are available at City Hall or online: https://www.cheboygan.org/news/

Questions? Contact Main Street Executive Director Polly Schneider at 231-627-9931 or [email protected].

Downtown doesn’t happen by accident. Come be part of the work that makes it happen.

🌳 15 New Trees Planted in Cheboygan! 🌳

The City of Cheboygan is excited to share that all 15 trees included in this year’s Community Street & Boulevard Tree Planting Project have been planted throughout the City!

This project was made possible through the generous support of Consumers Energy. Their funding helped the City add new trees within our public rights-of-way, bringing more shade, beauty, and long-term benefits to our neighborhoods.

A big thank you to Consumers Energy for supporting tree planting in our community, as well as and our DPW and Parks and Recreation staff for helping make this project a success!

We’re excited to watch these trees grow and continue to add to the beauty of Cheboygan for years to come. 🌱🌳

Thank you, Consumers Energy, for helping Cheboygan grow!

🚧 PARDON OUR PROGRESS, CHEBOYGAN! 🚧

Beginning Monday, September 14, the City of Cheboygan will begin an important paving project along Water Street and surrounding parking areas.

From September 14–18, crews will be milling and removing existing pavement. Drivers should expect changing traffic patterns, temporary parking restrictions and limited vehicle access in some areas as crews work their way through the project.

The good news? Downtown is OPEN! ❤️

Most businesses along the project area have their primary entrances on Main Street, so shopping, dining and doing business downtown can continue throughout construction.

Need another place to park? The municipal parking lot at the corner of Huron & Division Streets is a great option, along with the municipal lot at City Hall/ The Opera House.

A little patience now means a big improvement for downtown for years to come!

SHORT-TERM DISRUPTION. LONG-TERM IMPROVEMENT.

This project is a partnership between the City of Cheboygan and Cheboygan Main Street DDA.
