We’re grateful to announce that the Athens City School District is the recipient of an AEP Ohio Foundation grant supporting our district’s resource centers at our schools and Central Office.

The grant will help us provide emergency food supplies for families, as well as spare clothing and shoes at each school building.

A special thank-you to the AEP Ohio team for their generosity and for helping us continue to make our schools a valuable resource for students and families! 💚

This is a friendly reminder that student picture days begin this week!

📸 Student Picture Day Schedule
- AHS: Tuesday, September 8
- The Plains Intermediate: Wednesday, September 9
- AMS: Thursday, September 10
- Morrison-Gordon Elementary: Friday, September 11
- East Elementary: Tuesday, September 22

Elementary Picture Information: Additional information will be sent home with students.

AHS and AMS pictures will be available to view and order online after picture day:

If you prefer to order using a paper form, students may pick up a form on picture day to take home. The form will include ordering information and instructions.

🏛️ 2027 Washington, D.C. Trip for 8th Grade

Athens Middle School is excited to begin planning the return of the 8th Grade Washington, D.C. trip! The trip will be hosted in partnership with Martin School Travel, a student travel company with more than 30 years of experience.

📅 Trip Dates: May 12–14, 2027
💰 Estimated Cost: $735 per student

Payment Schedule:
• $250 due October 15, 2026 (registration deadline)
• $250 due January 1, 2027
• $235 due February 15, 2027

Families can make payments of any amount between now and the final payment date. E-Check payments save 1.9% in processing fees.

Trip Protection is recommended and provides a full refund up until the morning of departure if your student must cancel for a qualifying reason.

🌱 TPIS, in partnership with Community Food Initiatives, hosted its inaugural Sprouts Garden Camp during the first week of August!

It was a week filled with delicious food, creativity, fun, and hands-on outdoor learning. Campers learned from local farmers about food preservation, seed saving, soil biology, native plants, tea blending, flower arranging, and so much more.

A big thank-you to everyone who participated and helped make our first Garden Camp a smashing success! 🌻
