Recycle Collection Disruptions due to Mechanical Issues.

Mechanical breakdowns impacting several trucks have created a temporary disruption in recycling collection services at the Chattanooga Department of Public Works.

Due to the delay created by mechanical issues with several trucks this week, recycling pickup delays will continue throughout the week. Residents should put their bins out on their normal pickup day and leave them out until recycling is picked up. Our crews intend to complete this week's routes on Saturday to avoid further delays. Thank you for your patience while we catch back up from unexpected delays.

Update on City Wide Leaf Collection
Chattanooga, Tenn. (February 21, 2023)- City-wide leaf collection operations have been slower than projected due to recent wet weather, as wet leaves take longer and are more difficult to collect. In an effort to speed up the process, we are dedicating additional equipment and crews to help close the gap to what is normally a two to three-week process.
Leaf pickup in Area 2 has started and should take two weeks and end on March 3, 2023
Area 3 will start March 6th and end March 17th, 2023.
Area 4 leaf collection will begin on March 20th and end on March 31st, 2023.
As long as there is no heavy weather events that take place during this time frame, leaf collection for all areas will conclude on March 31, 2023.
You can view your service area by entering your address at https://bit.ly/3IZDvZ5. Additionally, signs will be posted at major intersections within that week's service area.
Proactive bulk trash and brush collection will continue on the previously announced schedules for each neighborhood, and crews will be doing litter sweeps while in the area. All residents are also encouraged to also submit a request through 311 if they see litter piled up outside of bins on city streets or properties, and crews will be onsite to pick it up within 48 hours.
