Hamilton County Say No to Voucher Expansion

Chattanooga friends and anyone who is a tn voter and especially of your kiddos attend public schools in the state or Chattanooga.

This is an issue where our voices are changing the course of this bill to siphon off much needed funds for our public schools - free pre k for all was amazing for example when I lived in ga. Or my husbands ac unit in his room has been out for 9 months and has not had it replace. Big or small this could be impactful.

Chattanooga: 68 counties (60% of tn counties) have signed a formal resolution opposing the policy. Hamilton county has put through wish washy at best billets on the issue. Email your board member and ask them to sign a formal resolution (in this article)! When you vote in school board in next election ask if they formally oppose vouchers. And vote on that issue!

Also vote with this issue in mind. The bill has stalled again because lawmakers know that majority of voters DO NOT support the voucher bill (only 10% of hamilton county students attend private school)! So let them know you don’t support it with your vote.

The pressure is working! I just spoke with the organizers of the movement to stop vouchers. The bill was rolled back again. We have one week to make as many calls as we can to patsy hazelwood and bill watson. Please use this link for script and numbers to call. Tie up the phone lines!

Hi! This page is for Hamilton County residents who want to have a collective voice to say no to the school voucher expansion. I am a 4th generation greater Chattanooga area community member.  Mama to 3 boys (townes 13, miles 10 and Donovan 3) who go to csas and my husband teaches at csas as well. I know vouchers have already been implemented in Hamilton county, but we need to stop the bleed. Our board is one of the only boards across the state that has not publicly denounced support for vouchers so that is our step 1 in this group. I will also educate here on easy actionable items to do starting with sending below (written or phone call) your reps. There is still time to organize and stop the policy.
