Live from NPR’s Tiny Desk: Two Chattanooga artists setting out to make history with their music.

Released only a week apart, these two were recently featured on NPR’s coveted music series — a feat accomplished by Chattanooga’s homegrown talent not seen since Usher’s performance in 2022. Here’s a little bit of what NPR had to say:

Isaiah Rashad put everything into this Tiny Desk. As a result, the pride of Chattanooga crafts a performance that feels like a debut for longtime fans and newcomers alike.

Mon Rovîa’s voice is like a balm: soft, clear, soothing. He uses that voice to tackle difficult, yet poignant vignettes — of battles fought internally and others observed in the world around him.

Today marks 25 years since one of the darkest days in our nation’s history. To honor those that bravely responded to the calls and climbed those 110 stories, and the innocent lives that were lost, local firefighters and the community recently joined the 12th annual Chattanooga 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Erlanger Park.

May we never forget what today represents — loss, sacrifice, and a nation that rebuilt around grief and came out resilient.

Happy Labor Day, Chattanooga! From our communications team to our public works crews, our hardworking One Chattanooga team is enjoying a restful day off for the holiday. All city offices are closed today in observation — our first responders are always on call and garbage/recycling pickup remains unchanged.

$25 million will be invested into Chattanooga's public transportation, thanks to funding from the FY26 BUILD grant from the US Department of Transportation. Not only will this project replace and modernize CARTA's downtown shuttle fleet with autonomous shuttles, but it will develop the Mobility & Innovation Command Center (located at the Shuttle Park South garage).

The shuttles, operated by Beep for the first three years, will communicate directly with traffic signals and roadside infrastructure along the corridor. This is also a milestone for workforce development — right next door, UTC will create their own center for an autonomous system as a live-learning lab, establishing curriculum and a pipeline for education and jobs in this industry in direct partnership with CARTA.
