We’re excited to spend the day with an incredible group of young people who are learning about leadership, responsibility, teamwork, and the juvenile justice system. Their enthusiasm and willingness to learn are already making today a success!

We’re looking forward to a great day of learning, collaboration, and preparing our Youth Court participants to make a positive difference in their community.

Hamilton County Youth Court is preparing for another youth court training session next weekend!

As part of Tennessee Youth Courts the youth courts across the state give eligible young people charged with certain offenses an alternative to traditional juvenile court. Their peers help determine constructive consequences designed to promote accountability, learning, and better decision-making.

Youth volunteers in grades 9 through 12 from local Hamilton County high schools gain hands-on experience with courtroom procedures, trial techniques, civic responsibility, and the relationship between rights and responsibilities.

The Honorable Judge Rob Philyaw and his amazing team at Hamilton County Juvenile Court have led this effort for many years. We are grateful for all they do for our youth and community!

School Attendance is a Child Well-Being Issue

New research reinforces the strong connection between chronic absenteeism and later mental health challenges. Students with frequent absences were significantly more likely to experience emotional and behavioral concerns over time, underscoring the importance of early intervention before attendance problems become chronic.
