A quick update on our Summer Snack Safe Food Drive!

​As we shared recently, finding reliable safe foods can be incredibly tough during the summer months. We are so grateful for the support we’ve already received!

​If you are planning a drop-off, please note that we are collecting all shelf-stable snack donations on the patio at 1710 Portland Street, rather than inside the community fridge itself. This helps us keep things organized and ensures there’s plenty of room in the fridge for perishables.

Keeping our community fridge open is a team effort and a two-way street. We want to continue providing this resource, but it requires everyone’s help to keep the area clean, safe, and respectful.
​Please make sure to dispose of all trash properly rather than leaving it on the ground, and clean up any spills immediately so the space stays sanitary for everyone. Also, please keep the whiteboard marker at the board at all times so neighbors can continue to share their requests.
​Maintaining a tidy space is vital to ensuring we can keep this service running for the neighborhood. Thank you for doing your part to keep this spot respectful and available for those who need it!

Hey everyone! It looks like our whiteboard marker has gone on a little adventure of its own over the last few days, which means we currently don’t have a way for you to write down your requests! If you happen to see it wandering around, please guide it back to its home by the board so everyone can use it. In the meantime, if anyone has a spare dry-erase marker they could drop off or donate to the board, we would be incredibly grateful! Last night, we reached out because we had a waitlist of neighbors who needed safe foods they could actually eat. Because of your incredible generosity overnight, that waitlist is officially gone!
​Those families are getting their groceries today, and we even have a small cushion of resources ready to help the next request that comes in. Seeing this response literally has us crying tears of joy over breakfast this morning.
​But we need to emphasize: this empty waitlist is temporary.
​The need is constant, and we are consistently getting new requests. Our ultimate goal is zero waitlists, permanently. We want resources ready the exact second a community member needs them, so we can look a neighbor in the eye and say, "Your community already anticipated this and filled the need. Go get safe food for your family right now."
​To keep this momentum and prevent a new waitlist tomorrow, we rely on ongoing support. Thank you for pulling through so beautifully overnight—let’s make instant, safe food access a permanent reality!
