Create Council on the Arts

The Starlight Duo!

The North Chatham Free Library will host a concert by the Starlight Duo entitled Musical Migrations – Songs from the Great American Songbook with stories about the composers’ lives on June 14 at 3 PM at the Malden Bridge Community Center.

Starlight Duo is a musical partnership of Lawrence Bush and Susan Griss, playing guitars and electric bass with vocals. Their 90-minute concert includes songs from the Great American Songbook (jazz standards), Detroit’s Motown record label, Chicago blues, and other popular sources. Each song will include introductory narratives for each song about the role of migration and cross-cultural influences in the lives of their composers. Music, of course, is a universal language that communicates across borders, boundaries, and time.

This project is made possible with funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature and administered by CREATE Council on the Arts.
