Yes, this fire happened in our area yesterday, a lot of resources were required to protect the community's property, a lot of good men and women took time out of their day, and loaded up in trucks that burn $5 a gallon diesel and spent hours working together to stop the fire and prevent loss of property and possibly lives, 1 of our volunteers had to be transported by ambulance to the hospital and several others were affected by the heat, I know personally that most of us are still feeling the affects of yesterday events, today. As we sit here praying for rain and for those affected by the fire and the heat, we're reflecting on what tools or resources we could get to help with the heat and large fires like this one. One of the most important things we need are volunteers, more people who don't mind helping their community, also needed are things to keep the volunteers hydrated and safe as they fight the fires, then there's the trucks, they take a beating in extreme heat, we had one break down on us yesterday and a tire get ruined on another one, Chatfield had 5 trucks on this fire, there were 25 total trucks there. Please keep in mind that the money raised at the department's fundraisers doesn't last long when it comes to repair cost and fuel purchases. I'm not only asking for support for Chatfield Volunteer Fire Department, but support for all the Volunteer Fire Departments, if it only comes in Prayers, water/snacks or money, we appreciate it all.
