Albemarle Circuit Court Clerk's Office - Debra M Shipp, Clerk of Court Debra (Debbie) M Shipp, Clerk serves Albemarle County. The Clerk's office is responsible for over 800 duties.

(2nd floor) Clerk's office is responsible for the recordation of land records, processing notary applications, probate of wills, guardian appointments, issuing marriage license, registering business trade names, managing trust accounts for minors, processing concealed handgun permits, managing restitution payments, docketing judgments, jury management, administering oaths, ( 3rd floor) processing

civil cases, recordation of church trustees, names changes, processing criminal matters, issuing services, assisting Judges in court, Jury trials, preparing cases on appeal to Supreme Court of Virginia and Court of Appeals.

Effective January 1, 2016 - the newly elected clerk took over the duties as the Circuit Court Clerk! It has been an honor and privilege to serve as clerk for the past 8 years. (Prior to that as deputy clerk for 31 years). I hope you have found the jury duty process in Albemarle County to be helpful. The Sheriff's office handed this duty to our office in June 2008. Jury cooridator, Kay Knight and I have worked hard to accommodate your schedules and hope you had a good experience during your term of service. Any questions pertaining to jury duty will need to be addressed with the clerk at (434) 972-4084. Jury updates will no longer be available at this site. Thank you!
