Join us and community partners, Rivanna Stormwater Education Partnership and James River Association, on September 3 at Starr Hill Downtown for a hands-on rain barrel workshop to learn how capturing rainwater can support your plants and reduce strain on our water supply.

Charlottesville Utilities and the Albemarle County Service Authority want you to remind you that our area is under a drought watch. We encourage the community to limit water use to help avoid mandatory water restrictions.

🔧💦Leaky faucets and toilets are some of the most common household leaks and some of the easiest to repair.

For more information on finding and fixing leaks, water conservation resources, drought conditions, and water use restrictions, please visit www.charlottesville.gov/drought. Charlottesville is currently in a Drought Watch, and we’re encouraging voluntary water conservation.
Small actions add up, check out these easy ways to save water at home and outdoors:
• Let your grass grow a little longer to help roots dig deeper.
• Give sprinklers and hoses a break as your lawn can handle going a bit brown.
• Sweep driveways and sidewalks instead of hosing them off.
• Add mulch around shrubs to retain moisture and protect soil.
• Be a leak detective: fixing leaks saves water, energy, and money.
• Install WaterSense labeled water fixtures and pick up a free conservation kit at City Hall with showerheads and faucet aerators.
