Congratulations to trainer Karen Dennehy who snagged her 50th career training win over the weekend with On Your Left Racing's Clearly Sophia! The 3-year-old Carvaggio filly was best in a $90,000 Virginia-restricted turf allowance at Rosie's Gaming and Colonial Downs on Friday. With top jockey Paco Lopez leading the way, Dennehy's filly finished the meet with two wins and a second (Coady Media action photo).

Congratulations to Brian Lynch’s 3-year-old filly Storm’s Wake who captured the $250,000 Old Dominion Oaks on a gorgeous Labor Day afternoon at Colonial Downs! The daughter of Oscar Performance pushed her career bankroll over the $700,000 mark with the win. Samuel Marin led the big effort in the irons for owner William Keller. Ken McPeek’s Soloist took second and Graham Motion’s Siouxse was third (Coady Media action photos).

Congratulations to Wesley Ward’s 2-year-old Omaha Beach filly, Omaha Spirit, who reached the winners circle in the first of six straight stakes today at Colonial Downs —- the Exacta Systems Rosie’s Stakes! Jockey Paco Lopez, who received hardware earlier in the card as top rider at the New Kent track, led the winning effort up top. Omaha Spirit captured her only other start, July 5, at Colonial. Kelsey Danner’s Bee Crazy finished second and there was a dead heat for third between Regent’s Park & Golden Corsair (Coady Media action photos).

Congratulations to 2-year-old Virginia-Certified filly Silver Road who captured today’s $87,500 maiden special weight turf miler at Colonial Downs —- on Old Dominion Derby Day! The daughter of Quality Road is a Brad Cox trainee and was making her first lifetime start. She is owned by Twin Oaks Bloodstock, was ridden by Florent Geroux and spent her 6-month residency at Susan Cooney’s Racing Stable in Berryville. Keri Brion’s Hardscape finished second and Rob Bailes’ Gold Brew was third (Coady Media action photo).

The winner is by Nashville out of Pink Pearl by Animal Kingdom. Reserve Champion honors went to Chad Carter's Un-Named Virginia-bred dark bay c**t --- who is by McKinzie out of Light the Causeway by Giant's Causeway. Thanks to everyone who came out and braved the heat today at the Virginia Breeders Fund Yearling Futurity at the Warrenton Horse Show Association Horse Show Grounds! A total of 28 horses competed in Virginia-Bred/Sired and Virginia-Certified categories and most had an owner or breeder present --- including four new ones who participated for the first time. And a big thank you to the Warrenton Horse Show staff who helped everything run smoothly and also kept everyone hydrated.
