Watch U.S. Attorney Russ Ferguson explain why dismantling gangs and disrupting gang criminal activity is a top priority from Winston-Salem, where he joined the North Carolina Gang Investigators Association’s annual training.

“Gang investigators see it first,” Ferguson said to law enforcement and prosecutors in the audience. “The crimes, the patterns, the trends, and the ways gangs, transnational criminal organizations, and cartels infiltrate communities, recruit young people, and spread drugs and violence in our neighborhoods. We’re not waiting for the next gang crime to happen. We’re identifying threats, disrupting gangs, and stopping violence before it starts.”
