You've probably heard that affordable housing lowers nearby property values, but is it actually true?
The answer is no; it’s a myth.

Research consistently shows the opposite: well-designed and well-managed affordable housing does not negatively affect surrounding property values. In fact, these communities can attract new investments, strengthen neighborhoods, and create opportunities for families, seniors, veterans, and essential workers to live in the areas where they work.

Do you have a myth you’d like us to debunk? We’d love to hear it! Drop it in the comments, and it could be featured in our next Myth or Reality post!

On this , I pay tribute to those resting in the historic Union African Methodist Episcopal Cemetery in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania. The small burial ground is the final resting place of at least fourteen African American veterans of the Civil War. Among them is Henry P. Brown (1843-1895) who served in the famous 54th Massachusetts. He enlisted at age 19, survived Fort Wagner, served until war's end, and returned home to Hollidaysburg with $50 muster-out pay. Brown was one of seven men from Hollidaysburg who served in the acclaimed fighting unit. Hats off to the Blair County African American Heritage Project for helping to raise awareness and care of this sacred landscape.
