When there is a need, volunteers show up. A big thank you to the ten wildlife warriors who cleaned up 162 lbs of trash along a mile stretch of Tyvola Rd.
Food wrappers and scraps like apple cores or banana peels attract wildlife to roadsides often resulting in vehicle strikes. Removing trash is one way we protect wildlife from harm.

Another Southeast Bumble Bee Atlas survey is in the books. Charlotte Wildlife Stewards, Central Carolina Master Naturalists, and community volunteers captured, documented, and released twenty-three Bumble Bees at Clark’s Creek Nature Preserve. Data gathered in these types of surveys will be used by scientists to evaluate bumble bee populations and other valuable information. Community science at work!!

A huge shout out to the volunteers who worked through the heat to remove invasive ligustrum, honeysuckle, English ivy, and poison ivy today. We’ll be back in October to put in native plants to enhance the wildlife habitat and beatify this spot. Conserving relatively small places goes a long way in providing food, shelter, nesting places, and connectivity for our wild neighbors.
