Today I had the opportunity to visit the Diaper Bank of North Carolina’s Greater Charlotte branch and see firsthand the incredible work happening right here in our community. 💚

The need is real: 1 in 2 families in America experiences diaper need, and programs like WIC and SNAP do not cover diapers. Here in Charlotte, the Diaper Bank serves more than 2,000 families every month with essential supplies and support.

A clean diaper may seem small, but it means health, dignity, comfort, and one less impossible choice for a family trying to make ends meet.

A huge thank you to Founder & CEO Michelle Schaefer, Greater Charlotte Branch Director Jerry Garcia, and the entire team for the invitation, the tour, and the work you do every day! 🫶🏽

Charlotte, get involved: donate, volunteer, host a diaper drive, or simply share their mission.

Grateful to celebrate the reopening of The Salvation Army’s Red Shield Youth Center in East Charlotte after nearly a year of being closed! ❤️

As we discuss youth safety and a curfew, these are the solutions we need: safe spaces, mentorship, recreation, and opportunity.

We can’t just restrict our youth, we have to invest in them. 💚

☕️ FOUR new coffee shops in less than ONE YEAR in District 5!

Today we welcomed Lina’s Bakery & Coffee Shop to East Town Market in the heart of East Charlotte. 💚

Our small businesses are vibrant, hustling, and investing in the East Side, and City Hall should invest in them, too.

That’s why I’m proud our FY27 budget includes $600K for Business District Organizations like CharlotteEAST that help our small businesses thrive.

East Charlotte is open for business. 💚

Charlotte can be safe without shutting Charlotte down. 💚

Council Member Dr. Watlington & I stopped by the Halal Food Cart to support the street vendors & small businesses that bring life, culture, & opportunity to our city.

Safety & a vibrant city can coexist. We can do both. 🧆🥗

Lunch in District 5 with Mecklenburg County Commission Chair Mark Jerrell and Mayor Rob Harrington 💚

We talked East Side priorities, where the City and County can work better together, and how we keep moving investments and opportunities east. There’s a lot of work ahead, and I’m always going to make sure East Charlotte has a seat at the table.

From East Charlotte, for East Charlotte. 💚
