This past Saturday, our team had the opportunity to participate in the Belmont Juneteenth Celebration! We enjoyed connecting with community members and sharing information about the resources and services available through the Cathy Mabry Cloninger Center.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table to learn more about how we support survivors of domestic violence through shelter, advocacy, crisis intervention, and supportive services. Events like these help us raise awareness and strengthen connections throughout our community.

A huge thank you to the Guardians of the Children - Gastonia, NC Chapter for their generous donation of personal hygiene items, stuffed animals, and children's clothing for the families we serve. 💜

Summer should be a time for fun, laughter, and making memories—but for many families, experiences like skating, swimming, going to the movies, or enjoying outdoor activities can feel out of reach.

You can help by sponsoring a summer activity for a family in our community! Sponsorship could look like purchasing gift cards or covering the cost of activities such as skating, swimming, movie outings, or other fun outdoor adventures for a family in need.

June is Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month

Mental health matters, and no one should feel like they have to struggle alone. This month, we also recognize that domestic violence can affect men through emotional, verbal, financial, and physical abuse.

At the Cathy Mabry Cloninger Center, we are committed to supporting all survivors and reminding our community that help is available. You are not alone.

🎉 Congratulations to our Social Worker, Lesha Sneed, on earning her Triple P Certification as a Primary Care Practitioner for children ages 0–12!

This certification allows our shelter to provide evidence-based parenting support that helps prevent behavioral, emotional, and developmental challenges in children by building parents' knowledge, skills, and confidence.

We are excited to expand our support for families in our community! 💜

This past Saturday, our shelter hosted the first annual Steeped in Strength Tea, and it was a beautiful success.

Together, we raised funds to support survivors of domestic violence through an art auction and powerful survivor stories that highlighted the importance of the work we do each day.

We are so grateful to everyone who attended, donated, and supported this event. A special thank you to Commissioner Cathy Cloninger, Shannon Myers, and Jennifer Thorner for helping make our first Steeped in Strength event such a success.
