Charlotte Center for Legal Advocacy is a member of The Children's Alliance and supports them in their efforts encouraging community partners and community members to contact state legislators tomorrow, June 10th, to encourage them to pass a comprehensive state budget.
The lack of a current state budget creates challenges for many children and families.
Did you know North Carolina is the ONLY state in the country operating without a current state budget?
Our budget should have been finalized at the end of last year's legislative session. Instead, North Carolina is still operating on 2023 funding levels while children, families, schools, healthcare providers, and community organizations face 2026 realities.
No budget means uncertainty for:
✅ Public schools
✅ Child care programs
✅ Mental health services
✅ Medicaid and SNAP administration
✅ Foster care and juvenile justice services
✅ State employees and teachers
Children and families can't wait.
Wednesday, June 10, join the Children's Alliance State Budget Advocacy Day.
Take 5 minutes to call or email your state legislators and ask one simple question:
WHERE'S THE MONEY?
It's time to finish the job and pass a state budget that invests in North Carolina's future.
