BOO! We've got a few new friends hanging around University City! Think you can find them all?

From October 26-31, we're sending you on a spooky scavenger hunt around the district! We've hidden 10 skeletons throughout our area and we're challenging you to visit every single one.

Here's how to play:
👻 Swipe through this carousel to peep the 10 skeletons you're looking for, with clues about their locations.
📸 Explore University City and snap a photo of each one.
🎃 Share your photos in a post on Instagram and tag us so we can see your discoveries!

The first 25 people to find and post all 10 skeletons will win a $25 gift card to either Ninety's Dessert Bar or Banh Mi Brothers! We’ll announce on our stories as the winners come in, and DM you to get your name and email address, and provide instructions on how to collect your prize. Make sure your profiles are public so we can reach out!

Start your Saturday feeling extra relaxed! Coach Sharra from RVH Wellness is joining us at University City Farmers Market for FREE 30-40 minute guided stretch and mobility sessions by the lake this Saturday, October 24, from 10 am to 12:30 pm at The Boardwalk at University City.

No registration necessary - just show up with your yoga mat or beach towel, a water bottle, and activewear. All levels are welcome and encouraged!

Through serving their community, some people become a part of its story.

Yesterday, longtime University City resident and University City Regional Library team member Everett Blackmon was honored with the Order of the Hornet, the highest civic honor bestowed by the Mecklenburg County Government Board of Commissioners. Established in 1972, the award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated extraordinary courage or exceptional service to the residents of Mecklenburg County.

For those of us in University City, this recognition is especially meaningful. Everett has spent 45 years serving Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, and we've had the privilege of celebrating his extraordinary commitment more than once. At our Small Business Initiative Networking Event in August, we recognized his 45 years of library service, and at last year's UCP Annual Meeting, we presented Everett with the Heart of University City Award for the lasting impact he's made on our community.

Please join us in congratulating Everett on this very special and well-deserved recognition!

October is National Book Month, and we have three new ways to celebrate stories beyond the page here in University City!

The recently unveiled Turning the Page Storybook Sculpture Collection collection by Janeva Tyree Art at University City Regional Library brings beloved children’s book characters to life, including The Very Hungry Caterpillar, The Cat in the Hat, and Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!

Drop by the library, take a stroll around the lakeside sculptures, and snap a photo with your favorite. If you visit, be sure to tag us in your photos so we can see how you’re celebrating National Book Month in University City!

With rain and windy conditions expected tomorrow morning, we're giving the tents (and our vendors) a break! University City Farmers Market is canceled tomorrow, Saturday, October 17, out of an abundance of caution.

On Tuesday, October 13, our President & CEO Keith Stanley joined neighbors, community leaders, and local public safety partners for National Night Out at Armored Cow Brewing Co.. It was a wonderful opportunity to spend time together, get to know one another, and celebrate the people who make University City such a special place.

A big thank you to Myra Johnston, the neighbors and volunteers who organized the evening, Armored Cow Brewing Co., Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department's University Division, the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office, Charlotte NC, and our City partners for bringing everyone together.

We're grateful for the people and partnerships that help make University City a welcoming, connected community!

More access to behavioral health care is coming to our community! Our friends at Atrium Health have announced a $340 million, five-year investment in behavioral health, including a new hospital on David Taylor Drive right here in University City, with 168 inpatient beds for children and adults.
