Members of our team were proud to be on-site today for The Surge, hosted by Roof Above, supporting veterans as they search for stable housing.

Today’s event was a powerful reminder that housing stability takes collaboration, care, and direct connection to resources. Thank you to Roof Above for bringing partners together to help veterans in our community move closer to home!

Our team of professional housing navigators are more than an information resource. We’re a partner in making housing possible, bringing both expertise and lived experience to the work, helping people move forward and open the door with confidence.

In just the first quarter of 2026, we’ve already helped:
• 172 households
• 362 individuals
• including 160 children

And when those households move in, we want them to have what they need from day one. This month, we’re raising support for 50 welcome packs to provide essential household items that help turn housing into home.

Everything begins with home, and what comes next matters just as much. Help us open the door for more of our clients today: https://openthedoorhc.funraise.org/

We recently had the chance to check in with Taylor after she and her two children moved into their new home.

“I had one day left on my voucher, and I knew when Ivey, Brittany, and Danielle with Freedom Fighting Missionaries Inc were all reaching out at the same time, that it had to be good news. Working with Ivey was great, I love her, she was great and checked on me.”

“Thank you all for the assistance,” she said.

Our team understands that housing is not just about placement. It’s about stability, wellbeing, and future mobility, and with the right support, the way forward becomes clear.

This month, we’re raising funds for 50 welcome packs so families like Taylor’s can walk into a space that feels like home right away, with the essentials already in place.

Affordable housing means paying no more than 30% of your overall income toward rent or mortgage. For many North Carolinians, that standard is out of reach.

There are only about 35 affordable homes available for every 100 extremely low-income renters, and that gap continues to impact families across Mecklenburg County.

Through housing placement, financial assistance, and partnerships with housing providers, we’re working to close that gap by making housing more accessible and easier to navigate for those who need it most.

And when someone secures housing, the next step matters too. That’s why we’re raising support this month for 50 welcome packs to help households settle in with essential items from day one.

Because everyone deserves a clear path home. Join us: https://openthedoorhc.funraise.org/

Lucky 13 with Beverly! 🎉

This month, we’re proud to celebrate Beverly’s 13 year anniversary on the Housing Collab team! Since joining our team in May 2013, she’s brought dedication, compassion, and firsthand understanding to her work, helping our clients find stable, affordable housing.

Her passion for making the process faster and more accessible, paired with the joy she feels when a client receives their keys, reflects the heart of the work we do every day.

Thank you for 13 years, Beverly!

Building yourself up starts at home.

For many households, the difference between housing and homelessness comes down to a few key barriers like application fees, security deposits, or past setbacks.

Your support helps remove those barriers and goes a step further. This month, it also helps us provide welcome packs filled with essential household items for people moving into stable housing.

In 2025 alone, our team helped 967 households secure housing across North Carolina, reaching more than 2,100 individuals.

When you give, you help open the door and make sure someone can walk into a home that’s ready for them.

In April, 41 households across North Carolina moved into housing with support from our team! Those households represent 80 individuals, including 55 adults and 25 children.

Behind the scenes, 233 inspections were coordinated to help make those placements possible.

Each number reflects real people, real progress, and continued momentum toward making housing more accessible for all.

Exciting news for affordable housing in Charlotte!

The City of Charlotte Government City Council just approved a $26.4 million investment through the Housing Trust Fund to support 13 developments, bringing more than 800 affordable homes to our community. That includes housing for families, seniors, and first-time homebuyers, with many units set aside for those with the greatest need.

We’re encouraged to see partnerships with faith communities, Habitat for Humanity, and others helping create more opportunities for people to find stable, affordable housing while keeping long-term affordability in mind.

It’s a strong step forward in expanding access to housing across Charlotte-Mecklenburg and building a community where more people have a place to call home.

May is Affordable Housing Month, and at Housing Collaborative, we’re focused on opening doors because we believe home is the way forward.

Affordable housing can be difficult to locate and even harder to navigate. For many individuals and families, the challenge is not just finding a home, but understanding how to access one and overcome the barriers along the way. Every day, our team is focused on making affordable housing easier to navigate, working to connect people with rental housing, support housing providers, and administer the resources that help turn opportunity into stability.

This month, we’re also working toward a goal: raising support for 50 welcome packs for households moving into their new homes. Each welcome pack includes essential items like cleaning supplies, dishes, and everyday basics to help turn a house into a home from day one.
