Empty Bowls is about more than a bowl. It is about making sure our neighbors have a place at the table.

We are incredibly grateful to the 47 individuals, businesses, organizations, and groups who have already sponsored a bowl for this year’s Empty Bowls fundraiser.

As the largest fundraiser supporting the Fifth Street Ministries Community Kitchen, Empty Bowls plays an important role in helping us continue providing meals and a welcoming place for anyone in our community who needs one.

This year, our goal is to secure 120 bowl sponsorships—one for each of the 120 beautiful Artisan Bowls that ticketed guests will choose from at the event. We currently have 47 sponsors. That means we still have a significant gap to fill.

Could you - or your business - help us reach 120?

A bowl sponsorship is $500, and we are especially grateful for the many sponsors who have stepped forward to sponsor multiple bowls. You don't have to do it alone, either. Invite friends, coworkers, neighbors, your faith group, or your business team to come together and sponsor a bowl. A group of people sharing the cost can make a very meaningful impact.

While you're talking with others, tell them why Fifth Street Ministries matters to our community. Tell them about the Community Kitchen. Tell them about the people we serve. Tell them how a meal can be more than food—it can be a point of connection, dignity, encouragement, and hope.

It takes a community to make Fifth Street Ministries feel like a place of welcome, stability and hope. ❤️

A huge thank you to the team from Trinity Episcopal Church - (Anne, Dr. Rhyne, Brad & Tammy) for spending time with us and serving dinner to our residents. A warm meal is important... but so is the kindness and connection that comes with people choosing to show up and serve.

And thank you to the team from Parker Hannifin (Rhonda, Andy & Tammy) for rolling up their sleeves and giving the playroom in our Family Suite a wonderful refresh... including a new mural! 🎨 The children who stay with us deserve a space where they can simply be kids, and this team helped make that space brighter, more welcoming and more joyful.

We are grateful for community partners who don't just support the work of Fifth Street Ministries... they step in and become part of it.

This week marks the beginning of our Bagged Lunch Program, and seeing months of planning, passion, and dedication finally come to life has been incredibly special.

It started with one question: Can we continue feeding our neighbors while creating a more sustainable model and giving our community a meaningful way to be part of it?

Because of you, we have been able to feed our neighbors lunch every day this week. Because of you, we have seen smiles and so much gratitude. Because of you, we are watching an idea planted months ago come to life—and it has been beautiful to witness.

To everyone who has prepared and delivered lunches, signed up to distribute, committed to future dates, reached out to learn more, or helped spread the word—thank you.

We are immensely grateful to see those seeds becoming blessings to so many, and we can’t wait to see how God continues to use this program and our community to serve our neighbors.

I love Dolly Parton... and I REALLY love this message. ❤️

This is something I wish more people understood about nonprofits like Fifth Street Ministries.

When you give to a nonprofit, it’s easy to want your gift to pay for something you can see... a meal, a shelter bed, clothing, a specific program or an emergency need.

But there is an entire organization behind every one of those things.

There are case managers helping someone move from homelessness into housing. Staff answering the door at 2 a.m. when someone has nowhere else to go. People managing grants, finances and reporting. There’s insurance, technology, transportation, training, utilities and buildings that have to be maintained and kept safe.

None of those things are particularly exciting to put on a fundraising flyer. 😊

But without them, the meal doesn’t get served, the shelter doesn’t stay open, the case manager isn’t there, and the person in crisis doesn’t get the help they need.

That’s why nonprofits need people who are willing to invest not just in a particular “thing,” but in the organization and the mission as a whole.

Dolly gets it. ❤️

And this is exactly the kind of partnership Fifth Street Ministries needs as we work every day to help people in crisis rebuild stability and move toward self-sufficiency.

A little food, a little fun, a little dancing—and apparently confirmation that I’m still a terrible frisbee thrower. 😂

A huge thank you to Stand Outreach Ministries, Latonya Freeman, Takeem, Mary Williams, and others who came together to make our Labor Day celebration so much fun for everyone on campus.

Days like this remind us that community is about more than meeting needs—it’s also about connection, laughter and belonging. 💙

WE ARE JUST 4 DAYS AWAY! 🎉

In just four days, Fifth Street Ministries will officially launch our new Bagged Lunch Program!

We are so grateful for everyone who has already signed up, but we still have opportunities available for September!

So, why the change?

Our traditional community lunch service cost approximately $60,000 each year to operate. While feeding our neighbors will always be important to Fifth Street Ministries, our work goes far beyond a meal—including emergency shelter, domestic violence services, housing assistance, street outreach, case management, counseling, veterans services, and more.

After months of thoughtful planning, we asked: Could we continue feeding our neighbors in a more sustainable way while giving our community a meaningful way to serve alongside us?

The answer became the Bagged Lunch Program. 💙

Community partners can now provide ready-to-distribute lunches, helping us continue feeding our neighbors while allowing more resources to support the many other critical services we provide.

People will still be fed. People will still be welcomed. People will still be cared for.

And you don't have to take on the whole need! As an example, 100 PB&J lunches cost about $120, or 100 deli lunches cost about $220. Serve once, choose a day each month, or gather a group and serve together.

What does this mean?
