We want YOU to OWN THE BUDDY WALK!

As our individuals get older, we know that not everyone creates a Buddy Walk team—but that doesn’t mean you can’t take an even bigger role in making Buddy Walk YOUR event!

We want to showcase your talents, abilities, leadership, and personality throughout the day. There are so many ways to get involved:

• Volunteer and take the volunteer lead
• Greet sponsors and vendors
• Welcome Buddy Walk participants
• Help with announcements
• Lead raffles
• Assist with activities
• And so much more!

This is YOUR event, and we want to see our ambassadors taking center stage!

Happy Grandparents Day!

What better day to celebrate and thank the grandparents who love, support, and cheer on our families every step of the way?

For many families, grandparents are some of the first people they call when they receive a Down syndrome diagnosis. They may have questions and emotions of their own, but they are often the ones who open their arms, welcome that precious baby, and remind their family that love comes first.

Today, we are especially thankful for all the grandmas, grandpas, Nanas, Poppies, Papaws, Gigi’s, Grannies, and every other special grandparent name out there!

FINAL PHOTO SHOOT FOR THE 2027 UPsides of Down Syndrome CALENDAR!

The final photo shoot for our 2027 UPsides of Down Syndrome Calendar is coming up Saturday, September 19th at 5:30pm, at Coddle Creek in the Concord area!

If your child is interested in being part of the calendar, ages 0–17 are welcome, and siblings can join in the photos, too!

This is Melody’s final photo shoot of 2026 for the 2027 calendar. We are so grateful for the time and talent she volunteers to make this special project possible.

Please check the information in our Facebook group and RSVP (under events tab) so Melody knows to expect you. If this date doesn’t work, no worries—hopefully we’ll see you next year!

Once the final photos are complete, Melody will begin creating the calendar pages and sending everything to DSAGC so we can get the calendars ordered and ready.

LOOK WHO’S HEADING TO TIMES SQUARE!

We are SO excited that our very own Kyler (ambassador for Kyler's Pit Crew of the Greater Charlotte Buddy Walk) will be featured on the BIG SCREEN in Times Square as part of the NDSS Buddy Walk presentation!

Tune in tomorrow morning (9/12) from 8:50–9:00 AM and watch for Kyler’s face! We know some other friends with extra chromosomes will be featured, too! (Make sure you follow LIVE on Facebook at the National Down Syndrome Society page to see his face).

Back in July, the Wildflowers Blossom Pageant Group hosted its 3rd Annual Wildflowers Blossom Pageant, and what a beautiful celebration it was!

In collaboration with the DSA of Greater Charlotte and GiGi's Playhouse Charlotte, we brought together an amazing community of individuals who had the opportunity to shine on stage, celebrate who they are, and feel like the stars they truly are.

Our contestants, ranging in age from 1 to 40, absolutely rocked the stage! They got dolled up, stepped into the spotlight, and showed everyone just how incredible they are. ✨

A huge thank-you to Snookysmiles Photography and Gilded Frame Photography for capturing so many beautiful moments from the day. These photos truly showcase the joy, confidence, and magic of our contestants!

We also want to give a heartfelt thank you to all of our makeup artists and volunteers who poured their time, talent, and love into making the day so special.

And, of course, thank you to every community member, donor, supporter, and organization who helped make the Wildflowers Blossom Pageant possible. Your support allows us to continue creating opportunities where everyone can feel celebrated, included, and empowered.
