✨ Leadership Spotlight ✨

Please join us in congratulating Jacob on his promotion to Assistant Operations Supervisor – Field!

Jacob joined Medic nine years ago as an EMT and graduated from The Center for Prehospital Medicine’s paramedic program the following year. Since then, he has built a career defined by dedication to patient care, professional development, and specialized emergency response. As an integral member of Medic’s Special Operations team, Jacob has demonstrated a commitment to specialized care, advanced training, and operational readiness in some of the most demanding situations our crews face.

Jacob also serves as an adjunct instructor with The Center for Prehospital Medicine and as a preceptor at Medic, helping develop the next generation of EMS professionals.

His commitment to excellence and leadership has made a lasting impact on our organization, and we’re excited to see him step into this new role!

Outside of work, Jacob enjoys spending time on Lake Norman with his girlfriend and their dog.

Congratulations, Jacob, on this well-deserved promotion! 👏

Charlotte is heating up.

With temperatures climbing into the mid-to-upper 90s and heat index values expected to reach 100°+ over the next few days, children are especially vulnerable to heat-related illness.

🚗 Always look before you lock. Before you walk away, place something you’ll need at your destination—your purse, phone, badge, or shoe—next to your child in the back seat as a reminder.
👶 Limit time in strollers, especially during the hottest part of the day.
💧 Keep kids hydrated and take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
☀️ Watch for signs of heat exhaustion, including dizziness, fatigue, nausea, and excessive sweating (or no sweating at all, which could mean heat stroke).

A parked car can become deadly in minutes, but heat-related emergencies can happen anywhere.

One extra check. One extra water break. One extra minute in the shade.

It could save a life.

May in Mecklenburg County was constant motion.

There were 22,420 incidents across the county, with 16,848 Medic responses and 10,564 patient transports connecting patients to the care they needed next.

Our crews handled 1,646 traffic incidents and 8 medical standbys, delivering critical care in the field. They placed 2,588 IVs/IOs to quickly start treatment and achieved 24 ROSC (return of spontaneous circulation) saves, where coordinated teamwork helped restore pulses.

They also helped deliver 1 baby, a reminder that EMS is there for both emergencies and new beginnings.

Different moments. Same mission: showing up for this community, every day.

Every emergency response starts with a voice on the other end of the line.

Last week, members of MEDIC's Communications Center represented our agency at 911 Goes to Raleigh, joining emergency communications professionals from across North Carolina to meet with legislators and advocate for the future of 911 and public safety communications.

Throughout the day, our team shared how CMED serves as a critical link between field crews, hospitals, and public safety partners, helping ensure patients receive the care they need when every second counts.

The conversations made an impact. Several legislators expressed interest in learning more about emergency communications operations and have already requested visits to MEDIC to see our Communications Center in action.

Their participation reflects not only the importance of emergency communications, but also the respect MEDIC's CMED team has earned as a trusted leader in public safety and healthcare communications across our region.

Thank you to North Carolina NENA and NC Association of Public Safety Communications Officials - NC APCO for co-sponsoring this event! And thank you to Corinne Walser, Rebecca Zamagni-Mander, and Michael Desmond for representing MEDIC and advocating for the professionals who help keep our communities connected and cared for every day.

For more than 26 years, Jamie Love has been a driving force behind Medic’s leadership and operations.

Today, we celebrate a career defined by leadership, service, and impact as Jamie steps into a well-earned retirement.

Jamie’s journey with EMS began in 1995 when she obtained her EMT certification and worked with Char-Meck’s non-emergency service before joining Medic in 1999. From there, she advanced through nearly every level of the organization: from Paramedic and Crew Chief to NET Supervisor and Operations Manager.

Jamie played a key role in shaping non-emergency transport operations, special events coordination, and emergency management efforts, while also strengthening partnerships with fire and law enforcement agencies. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she served in critical incident command roles and supported employees and operations during one of the most challenging periods in our history.

Beyond her operational leadership, Jamie has been known for the way she shows up for people - offering guidance, encouragement, and support through both professional and personal moments. Her impact can be felt in the relationships she built and the culture she helped strengthen across Medic.

We are grateful for her decades of service, leadership, and compassion. Jamie leaves behind a lasting legacy that has helped shape Medic into what it is today.

Please join us in congratulating Jamie on her retirement and wishing her happiness, rest, and joy in this next chapter. Congratulations, Jamie!
