North Carolina Cigarette Tax now 6th lowest in the country
Come July 1, 2010 South Carolina’s cigarette tax will no longer be the lowest in the country. In fact, it will be higher than North Carolina’s! South Carolina legislators overcame their Governor’s veto by voting to increase the state’s cigarette tax from 7 cents to 57 cents. At 45 cents, North Carolina’s tax on ci******es was 7th lowest in the country but now moves to 6th. http://www.to***cofreekids.org/Script/DisplayPressRelease.php3?Display=1210
