Over the last 18 years, the most rewarding and difficult work I've done is with crime victims. For the last 10 years, I have handled the bulk of our office's most difficult cases - sexual assault cases. I've worked with child victims and adult victims, male victims and female victims. I've worked with them to be ready to testify, walked into court with them to face their abusers, sat with them waiting for a verdict, and cried with them no matter the outcome. I've cheered them on, and calmed them down. I've learned to stop talking, and start listening. Sometimes we are successful in getting justice, sometimes we are not, but either way we were in it together.

Working with the amazing victims I have over the years has done more for me than I every could have done for them. Their willingness to share with me their most terrifying and vulnerable moments has been an honor and privilege. And it has taught me so much about what people need in a stressful and traumatic situation. I've stayed in contact with many of them, watching them grow and overcome. This unique experience will make me a compassionate and caring judge.

Tomorrow, November 3rd - Vote Kelly Morton for District Court Judge - a vote for experience and compassion!

Hello Eaton County Voters,

I’m Kelly Morton’s husband, Brent, and I wanted to share a story.

Sunday after church, Kelly stayed home to work on social media for the campaign, while I went to work on signs. When I got home, Kelly was excited. You see, while I was gone, a former victim Kelly worked with had commented on a Facebook post. Kelly hadn't heard from her in years - she was a child when they worked together, but is an adult now. Kelly told me it made her day to hear from her, and that she was doing great!

This is my wife. This is why she will make a great Judge. She invests in people, cares about people, and builds relationships. This is not limited to crime victims - her work with Eaton County Treatment Courts is also very important to her. She invests in the participants, worries about them, and cheers for their continued success. She builds people up.
