M-50, M-79 improvements in Charlotte begin Sept. 14
LANSING, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin resurfacing M-50 (Cochran Avenue) from M-50/I-69 Business Route (BR) to Beech Highway and M-79/I-69 Business Loop (BL) (Lawrence Street/Lansing Street) from Bostwick Street to Gale Street in Charlotte beginning Monday, Sept. 14. Work will include installing Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)-compliant sidewalks.

💧🚒 **HYDRANT FLUSHING NOTICE** 🚒💧

The **City of Charlotte Water Department** will begin hydrant flushing at **4:00 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2026**, and crews will continue flushing throughout the day on **Tuesday, September 22**.

As our crews work throughout the community, please help keep everyone safe:

🚧 **Slow down when approaching work areas**
🚗 **Give our Water Department crews a little extra room**
👷 **Watch for workers, equipment, hoses, and flowing water near the roadway**
⚠️ **Use extra caution when passing flushing operations**

Hydrant flushing may cause **temporary water discoloration**. If you notice discoloration, simply run your water for several minutes until it clears.

🎪✨ THE FESTIVAL OF ODDITIES IS COMING TO CHARLOTTE! ✨🎪

Get ready for a wonderfully weird weekend! The Festival of Oddities is happening September 4–6, 2026, bringing a unique community event to downtown Charlotte.

🚧 Please note the following street closures:

📅 Friday, Saturday & Sunday — September 4–6
⏰ 8:00 AM–4:00 PM each day

🔸 Harris St. — between N. Bostwick St. and Cochran Ave.
🔸 N. Bostwick St. — between E. Harris St. and Lawrence Ave.

These areas will be closed to through traffic during the event. Please plan ahead, use alternate routes, and keep an eye out for pedestrians and increased activity in the area.

👻🔮 Whether you love the unusual, the mysterious, or simply enjoy getting out for a community event, the Festival of Oddities is sure to make for an interesting weekend in Charlotte!

Come on down to Oak Park for tonight’s dedication starting at 6:00 PM and going until 8:00 PM. We have one of the fire trucks down here, Kona ice, another lemonade truck, Friends of Eaton County Animals, all of the new park equipment and more. Entertainment tonight by the baseline band. You’ll certainly wanna come down and check out the acorn water fountain, which has not ran up until today for over 60 years. It’s a site to see. Look forward to seeing everyone for tonight Oak Park dedication
