Crouse Volunteer Fire Department would like to wish everyone a safe Memorial Day. We would like to thank all the military personnel who gave their lives while serving in the United States Armed Forces protecting our country.
Some of our Volunteers that were off today got together at the station with their families to come together and do a cookout while standing by at the station in case the tones drop and to enjoy the holiday as a big family.

We are proud of Stefan at Crouse VFD.
Help us congratulate him on working so hard the past few months on taking EMT classes. His hard work has paid off and he passed his NC State EMT exam.

Last night training involved tight confined spaces, entanglement and maneuverability of gear and airpacks. This is something that can never be trained on enough. Not only overcoming the physical part but the mental part which is the biggest part. When you become tangled it can really mess with your mind to the point you think you can not go any farther. We train to overcome that.
Had 29 of our Volunteers participate in this training.

Burn Ban Lifted for Lincoln County

After consideration of recent rainfall, the Lincoln County Fire Marshal has made the decision to lift the burn ban of open burning within 100 feet of a structure effective 8:00 am Thursday May 7, 2026. This means that residents can once again engage in controlled outdoor burning activities.
Lincoln County wishes to remind residents to use extreme caution when conducting any outdoor burning activities. The County remains under Stage 2 Drought Conditions, and with warmer temperatures and increased grilling activity, fire safety should remain a top priority. We appreciate your cooperation and commitment to helping maintain a safe environment for our community.

Crouse Volunteer Fire Department wanted to inform everyone that we will not be hosting any parades, trunk or treat, or Haunted House this year.

With everything that has been going on and the increase of calls and work. We missed the 90 day notice to the county to receive our permit from Parks and Recreation to hold the 4th of July parade.

When we notified our members they ask if we could just take a break from everything so they themselves can enjoy the holidays with their family, not just volunteer to work them. The volunteers then voted and unanimously all motioned to take a break.

We will hopefully fall back into our normal schedule next year that we host, which is July 4th parade, Christmas parade, pole flags, trunk or treat, haunted house and all the decorations that take place during these holidays.

We will most likely still do Santa Night for the kids this Christmas. Kids have to see Santa.

Thank yall for understanding.

Crouse Volunteer Fire Department ran 67 calls for the month of April, total calls for year so far 249.

Thanks to being able to have paid staff 24/7 to get the trucks out under 3 min of time of dispatch that leaves our Volunteers time to either come to station to get another apparatus if needed and to head directly to scene to jump into action to help the ones in our community and surrounding communities during their time of need.

We are blessed here at Crouse VFD to have a full roster. Also to have so many volunteers that are like family, and give their all for their community, knowing they are risking their lives for a stranger.

Break down of calls for April:

Hazmat spill -1
Service call- 1
Vehicle fire- 3
Working structure fire- 5
Fire alarms- 6
MVA- 6
Brush/Illegal burn-14
Medical- 31

At 3:38 AM on 5-3-2026 Crouse Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched for car vs house MVA. Upon arrival Crouse command found a 4 door car roughly 30 ft in the home. Driver had got herself out of the vehicle on her own power as homeowners were calling 911. Driver was transported to hospital. Homeowners were trapped upstairs until firefighters and Deputies assisted them from the stair well by ladder. nobody living at the home was injured just really shook up.
Call was cleared at 6:29 AM

Crouse VFD was dispatched to this call and this is one of the worst things a fire dept can be dispatched to. When arriving on scene you find out it is a fellow fireman that you know and love. Please keep him in your prayers as he has a road of recovery ahead of him.

A few (16) Volunteer members of the Crouse Volunteer Fire Department spending their Friday evening hanging out waiting on any calls that come out in the community or surrounding community to help.
When the call came out to assist Northbrook with a structure fire, we still had plenty of volunteers standing by the station during the time of the mutual aid call.
